After I finish the LS Launch weekend, I'll come post the final cost.

I'm not a content creator. Could care less about them. I'm just a man that has the $ to afford this hobby.

I've always been curious what the cost was for first day collections.

I'd put it between 450-600 total. 800 if you don't pull Trout or any gate keepers.

I usually pull 150-200 packs, bang out whatever collections I can for XP and stubs back, reload and turn to the market.

Do you think it’s cheaper to buy packs or to just put in orders for all the cards?

The only sure way will be to buy the players. Packs may help to fill some bronze. silver or even gold cards, but you can’t rely on packing diamonds (especially high level diamonds). This was my 7th year playing, and while I don’t buy many packs because the odds are against you, I grind a lot and rip hundreds each year. Never packed Mike Trout, not even once.

I would spend some dough if they made a '85-'86 Don Mattingly card. '85 he was MVP, 35-145 and in '86 he hit .352 with 31 bombs.

No chance in hell at 450 day 1.

Pulled Trout at minute 52 after launch for 19.

Absolutely can be done. I was streaming too.

Matter of fact, I preloaded $240 to my PS account as that was the max. And swiped twice at $100 to finish. Pre-order for MLB and GameStop had me with 80 packs before I spent a stub.

Here's the Trout picture from that night. I had Mays Saturday morning.

I pulled Trout 8 times this year, NMS. Some years you have luck, others you don't. I don't expect to ever pull a high diamond again.

I invest in about 150-200 packs to start. I keep one eye on the live market and 100k in stubs active. Every 5 packs, I buy and sell with good spreads. After all packs are done, check the dupes.

It requires luck and I usually stay up for 3 hours and finish up the next day.

Mind you, j spend more than 99.44% of the population, but I am not lying about doing LS collection for under $1000 every year
It's possible. The spread and time though is luck driven.

That's really extreme. I applaud your luck but pretty naive to ever expect that to happen again on release day.

I pulled trout on release day in 18 and 19. In 19 it was my very first pack I opened

Not $1k, but I wouldn't flinch about dropping $200 - $300 on day one to get Josh Gibson, Satchel Page, Randy Johnson and Griffey 99 on day one.

Even if I had that kind of money, no way am I spending that. If anything I would just play extra (This is in a world where my parents allow me to play often) and then get him quicker. NO WAY am I spending 1K, if anything give me some baseball cards. 😂

Money is a relative thing. 1k to you and I might feel like $10 to someone else. So it’s hard to say what you’d do if you had it like that.

The meta of the game will really depend on a lot of cards and their value. HOPEFULLY All kinds of cards are useful in the game. Seems like those high contact guys are really just not cutting it unless they have high power attributes in 20- I did seem to hit more with all kinds of cards in the beta —

I don’t put any value on a specific player just because I like them because if I can’t hit with a card he’s not going to be in my lineup.

I had a year Tony Gwynn was there to the end. I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with Gwynn in 20 seems like everything is to the track or lined out. Same with me for jimmy rollins...although I do see some people have some success with him - not ideal imo.

You guys realize this is a troll post right!!!! First off, he brags about the fact that he can afford to drop a grand on a video game digital card that has no intrinsic value after the game cycle ends. Then he gets personal with a bunch of strangers and feels the need to share info that you wouldn’t normally share with someone other than a close personal friend or family member. Come on, am I the only person that see’s this??? This is classic narcissistic behavior and all you guys are doing is feeding his ego.

But... if I can figure out a way to turn my 98 Adalberto Mondesi into a NFT... I’ll be RICH.
