What player would the live series collection have to be to get you to drop $1000 day one?

Look man idc if it would be Bonds, Aaron and Clemente combined. There's no way I'm dropping those amounts of money on this franchise ever again. It's too easy to make stubs and the game hardly improves so much that it would be worth such a financial write off. Because that's what it is, next year your investment is worthless.

Nobody, the fun part of the game (beside playing games) is the grind. If I spent real money that would kill the fun of the beginning of the game cycle.

Yeah I wouldn't pay a grand to watch the player play in real life, much less a video game.

Not a chance for any player. Cards in the game have no real value. Just play and grind.

So you guys don’t go on cruises to the Bahamas since you don’t get to bring the boat, islands or babes back with you?

Do they become worthless at the end of the game cycle? Yes....But speaking as someone who has lost a parent & a child I’ll just say this...Live every day as if it could be your last. Allow yourself to splurge on things that you enjoy & make you happy because you just never know what’s around the corner.

A cruise comes with relationship building (assuming you're doing it with family or friends), it comes with a lifetime of memories, photos, souvenirs, new experiences in different countries with presumably different languages.

Do you take a photo of your TV screen to remember that special moment you dropped a months worth of rent on digital cards?

I don't think most people would ever do that, we work way to hard for our money. But, that's awesome that you can and do!

    Absolutely nothing.

I could easily afford it but no shot I'm giving up 1K for a virtual cards that hold no real world value.

I’m sorry you lost a child man that’s horrible. Praying for you and your family dude. Spend whatever TF you want.

Personally there’s no real player to make me spend 1000 I just play it by ear. Last year I dropped like 400 but I felt it not to be worth it because the stubs and the cards were pretty easy to get.

    Thanks man, Appreciate that.

That’s just it, I had never spent money before last year & am not planning on spending any this year. It was just last year because it was the Mick...That was the only player that made me say F it, Let’s do this! lol....Because I do enjoy the grind, But last year I HAD TO have him ASAP. I just thought it would be a fun topic to see who that player is for everyone else but apparently I’m the only guy lol

Interesting convo, don't think at all that you're the only one OP. I definitely never have and never will even though I can afford it .Solely based on principle and because stubs were so easy this year it's not even funny. Also, I competed just fine against teams in ranked who had sheffield/biggio/mantle and that for me was the best possible trio I could have expected going into MLB20.
Would be nice to see Clemente or Aaron announced though...but I mean; there's 1 million OFs in the game I think I'll be fine using low diamonds for the first few weeks lol.

I gave you a like for admitting that you spent the money. No shame in it. It's yours and you are welcome to do with it as you please.

    More people spend than admit.

Personally, doesn't matter who the LS Collection is. I usually kill it in week one. It allows me to just roll along the rest of the year with cards and collecting, flipping etc.

To answer the OP question. It doesn't matter. I have to have whoever it is.

Like I said I would never spend money but for the sake of conversation if there is anyone that I would if forced it would have to be for Barry Bonds. They would have to raise the power rating over 125 just for him.

I might throw some money in the game at launch to be honest even though it’s not necessary...just cus I can. But I’m talking like $200 not $1200

See, on launch night, the LS is the lowest stub wise that it ever gets until December.

If you are gonna buy the stubs, day one makes total sense.

I agree with your sentiment to spend money on what you want if it brings you joy but for me the fun part of the game is playing to get better players to upgrade my team. Luckily I’m in a position where I literally always have millions of credit card points that can be redeemed on amazon to shop with so I could actually get every card day one by buying psn gift cards on Amazon with points and it wouldnt feel like spending real money. So I do buy the game that way and get the highest version with as many pre order packs etc but that’s it. I definitely don’t have anything against people who buy cards but for me I think I would get bored quick.

Totally not true. I finished LS the day they dropped the flash sale diamond pack in April (I think around the 20th) and it was definitely way cheaper than day 1.

Having said that, I have spent $200 opening weekend the last 2 years, but may go nms this year depending on the award and the set up. The only card I might drop the $200 on again this year would be Aaron. Anyone else and I will go nms.

It's possible in future that collectible cards in games go the way of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) -- unique digital items with potentially stratospheric value.

It is true. I do it every year by day 3. The price of your dupes are never higher. Trout is rarely lower and if you pay attention, you come in under 700K total spent in stubs.

Not a bad strategy for waiting for a stub sale, but who wants to wait when a stub sale deflates your stub value anyway.
