Yeah here's my image of MLB 21 becoming the best Show ever. Take out DD and online stuff, only Franchise...make the game more of a simulation instead of gimmicks like Perfect/Perfect. Put in Stride timing so it simulates a full follow through like actually swinging a bat, instead of aiming with a target and pressing X like playing a baseball game in the mid 90s. Take out the silly nooby instant homerun cam, I hate that S*^%. Add in about 10 more minor leagues and spring training stadiums. Make it default Legend hitting with pitch speeds at 10 so casual noobs are forced to get better. And put it on PC!!!

gotta have lower difficulties my friend, learning to hit at that level takes practice/experience.

people wouldn't actually learn to hit if forced to play at high difficulties because they'd never learn the basics.

but i agree with stride analog. if people want a true skill based baseball game than that's really the way to play but it's never gonna happen.

Yeah I know, we live in a world of instant gratification.....casual noobs are the norms with sports gaming now...whatever happened to spending 100s of hours learning to get good at something? :). I mean my F1 2016 play time is approaching 500 hours and I still have lots to learn :).

But I didn’t mean it that way. It was more so feeling like I had to defend my position with credibility.

@A_PerfectGame , I respect your opinions out here. Always "thought-provoking", and I appreciate your passion.

    Also... I can't wait until April 16th...

If i am not mistaken pitching wasn't easy either. Only time you hit the button was to select pitch, you had to aim it while in the air with directional button if my cob webbed memory serves me right. Or you had to hold button while using directional?

Servers will be the issue like every year for the first few weeks. Especially with added players and cross platform

I am expecting massive issues for launch server side. It's always a problem but this year could be setting up for disaster. I truly do hope I'm wrong though as this could be a great year for the show!!

Its got a chance after the bugs are fixed & the servers are fine tuned, then there will be the annual pitch speed debate that has become a right of spring on these forums.

Once thats all done it could be one of the best games SDS has made in a while.

If you only do stride it takes away from user skill and adds too much RNG. That would be more of a simulation style game. If I had to learn stride plus analog I’d accept that as skill based — but not having to place the bat on the ball is too random. Because then we are basing everything off just timing and then from there where do you go? It has to go random.

Stride and directional are very similar interfaces

As are stride plus analog and zone.

LOL. this drives me nuts. no offense to you but I am talking about zone plus analog with the stride.
That is: you still have to place your PCI on the ball with the left stick while using the stride with the right analog stick. It's the most skill based hitting interface which hardly anyone uses.

I just said it’s skill based. Regular stride isn’t. Regular stride is as skill based as directional

I find pure analog slightly easier to not jam pci a certain way so that’s cool. I just prefer zone

YOU ACTUALLY DON'T GET IT. this is unbelievable.

zone plus analog is when you use the left stick. THE LEFT STICK as your PCI.

You use the Right Stick. RIGHT stick as the stride and swing.

    YOU USE BOTH SIMULTANEOUSLY.

It's the most skill based hitting interface the game offers but no one uses it because no one even knows it exists as proven by your posts.

    i'm shocked. i truly am.

I know exactly what it is. It’s not “the most skill based hitting” it’s the same as ZONE except instea of a button you use a stride how it it different as far as skill set? Why are you assuming it’s more skillful to stride analog then to press buttons?

    How is it not?

It's an added element where you have to learn the stride of each hitter which varies depending on the pitcher.

you also need to be able to adapt your stride to a quick pitch.

its absolutely the most skill based hitting interface.

BUT no one uses it online.

You can argue fhat learning the timing of the hitters bat is almost exactly the same Or that some hitters are easier with one and vice versa. They are both skill based hitting interfaces

no doubt but one does require more focus and skill simply because of the added elements of having to learn their stride because both interfaces still require the timing of the hitter's bat or swing.

BUT I am not saying those who use zone plus analog (ZPA) have more skill but in order to produce good results more skill and experience is required.

most if not all people will be better with buttons and I guarantee any top player would not produce the same results using ZPA but would likely still be a top player.

ZPA isn't like using directional because Directional takes away control and adds in randomness where as ZPA adds in more control and gives the user less room for error.

manual vs auto. directional is basically taking an UBER.

You should try it and see. I don't use online but offline for a challenge it's fun. Using zone + buttons like most players use, the CPU automatically strides for you correctly 100% of the time. Zone + Analog stride means before every pitch you have to stride at the correct time. To early or too late and you are penalized. Bear in mind the load time for every hitter is not the same.

Literally every pitch you see it's pull back the right stick to load, recognize the pitch type and aim the PCI, then push up with the right stick to swing. There's zero down time, especially online where people pitch at a quick piece.

Zone + Analog stride is by far the most difficult hitting setting. Unlike Pinpoint pitching though, there is no reward for using the harder hitting setting.

Wasn’t a big fan of the game during the test, but I’m feeling much better seeing some of the developer videos (albeit, the ones that are designed to sell the game) and am confident they will iron out some of the lingering issues before launch. I do hope they’ll have finally fixed the home hunting issue that has been plaguing Online play for years, especially if create a stadium is used in head 2 head. Shippett is bad enough...

I’m just gonna make shippett, but at 5000 feet instead of 3000.

I actually went to try it and it wasn’t there??

You not talking about MLB 21 tech test are you? MLB 20 it's there.

I’m taking about 20... I’ll look again but I went through it to mess with it. It was pure analog, zone, directional and I kept scrolling and I never saw a zone plus analog interface setting...
