Checkswings - Can someone explain?

I think check swings is a little higher than bottom of the list. Particularly on AS. But I will agree that the problem with check swings is dependent upon and enhanced by other factors. Meaning, perhaps if pitches on the black were called for strikes, check swings wouldn’t be such a problem. Or perhaps if fouling off pitches in the dirt didn’t happen so frequently, check swings would be less of a problem.
So yeah, by themselves, maybe they aren’t a huge deal. But coupled with all the other ways that make it nearly impossible to get someone out on (especially on AS), check swings quickly become a source of irritation for me. Particularly when there is great disparity between two users (but apparently that is because of contact swinging. I’m tempted to play a game or two using contact swing exclusively but I have a spine).
I was exactly where you are a few days ago. It’s absolutely miserable. Go [censored] off and play another game for a while then come back. But yes AS sucks and I know when I get my opponent 0-2 on two pitches that bounced here comes a 12 pitch ab and a homer

Check swings do need to be fixed. Can we all agree on that?
When people acknowledge the fact that what they see on the screen isn’t what the other player is inputting then sure, but until then we will get a bunch of videos from a bunch of people that can’t understand that.
It’s exactly the same with tagging runners and people that think their opponent is slowing down pitches lol. Both screens DO NOT show the exact same thing, it’s compensating for latency.

Oh I agree, what I see is prolly different than theirs. I won’t dispute that cause it’s true, and maybe even more so when it’s a ps5 vs ps4 matchup. Check swings can turn the tide for someone completely in their favor though, I mean I’ve had event games where in 3 innings they managed to scrap 30+ check swings on all star and hall of fame difficulty. Moral of my response I agree with what you said, but check swings need to nerfed/fixed.

Sounds like your opponents are more skilled at using check swings
People tend to forget the discipline attribute plays a huge role in getting check swings. You can check swing all day with Juan Soto because he has a discipline rating of 1 25. I have noticed I tend to strike out more with players with a low discipline attribute (under 100).

I’ve 120 ranked games, But I still don’t understand competitive play.... This game online seems have a mind of its own, I’m not ripping my opponents in the post, but I’m 0-2 both I could’ve easily won... One game Seager hits a weak ground ball up the middle, would’ve been a double play except it wouldn’t let me control anybody until Seager got a two run triple, next sac fly, so what couldn’t been 0 runs turn into me down 3.. The game after that the only time I got rewarded was my two perfect perfect, every time I’d threaten good good line outs and double plays, I end the game by squaring up a Chapman fastball with Honus Wagner that just dies at the warning track.... So I guess for me I don’t online inputs.... I never get check swings either.

I wouldn’t say removal, but maybe a limit each at bat? Maybe like 2 an at bat and then after any swing will follow through? Just an idea, maybe not a good one but it can at least limit them in some capacity.

Do you know how to get 99% of your checks called as balls, while your opponent has half of his go for strikes? If so, please pass that information on to the rest of us.
Contact swing.
Ah. That could be it. But I don’t care if it’s a contact swing or not, the clip I posted above should be a strike no matter what.
I almost always use a regular swing. I don’t use power or contact swing hardly at all. That could be it.
What you see on the screen means nothing. It could look like the bat went all the way around and it can be called a ball, or it could look like your batter didn't even flinch and it can be called a strike. I'm not saying it should work that way, but that's the way it has been for years.
The call in game is based on the type of swing you use, batter attributes (probably pitcher attributes too), and possibly other variables topped off with a sprinkle of RNG. It would certainly be nice if they could find a way to make the visual actually match the outcome 100% of the time now that they have the PS5, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Of all the things that need to be tweaked in this game, that is probably at the bottom of the list.
I may be wrong here but you said batter/pitcher attributes and other variables “topped off with a sprinkle of rng” but isn’t that all just exactly RNG?

I love it (not) how you can basically push your finger through the controller O button in a 2-2 count with a runner on 1st and he check swings, the next time he’s up with bases loaded 3-2 all you do is breathe on the O button and he swings and misses.

This is just as bad as checkswings fellas... 55 foul balls through 5 innings

On things that need to be fixed it’s not very high on my list. Foul tips anything anywhere is higher and so is lining out for 9 innings on good contact with 99 superstars
-
Get Shippett out of the game and let’s see who can hit
-
No, no we can’t. We haven’t been able to explain the logic behind check swings in this game for years.
-
I think hitting is, by nature of the game, so much more difficult than pitching. I'm okay with check-swings because they're a part of the game that helps the batter out just a bit.

Why does my opponent, through four innings, have 13 checkswings and all of them called balls.
I have four checkswings, and all of them called strikes.
How? Why?
Just bunt every time.

This is sarcasm, right? Has to be.
I couldn’t imagine getting bailed out repeatedly by a flawed mechanic and then believing it was a skill.
But yeah, I guess if using contact swing is a skill, I’m going to have to git gud. Haha
-
I believe check swings are determined by the player's discipline rating. The higher the discipline rating, the better odds of a check swing being called a ball.

Seeing someone believe check swings in this game are skill based gave me the laugh I needed.
