So The Show has a new survey up on Twitter, asking for more feedback on the 2020 version. My gut’s telling me that all the convo we’ve been having about a delay is all but confirmed. Not that this is shocking. I think the May release is the sweet spot.

I agree...I spoke to a Royals player this afternoon who works out at my sons facility in the off season. He said players are pushing to start in time ( they want to play all 162 to get all their money), but owners do not and are dragging feet wanting vaccines first.

    We shall see.

I don’t think that survey has much effect on the new release

Ryan O’Hearn yesterday. He and Hunter Dozier are best friends with one of my sons instructors and they are the coolest guys to my son. They have known him for a couple years and every time they see him they stop, watch him work out, give compliments and advice. Those things stick with young kids and those two understand it.

I’m thinking that ‘21 may be an update DLC for owners of ‘20 that brings new card art, rosters and content via a patch that costs around half of the base game. If released as a standalone title on PS4 and on other platforms, you’ll get ‘20 with the ‘21 updates preinstalled over the base game of ‘20 and pay full price. This will save a lot of work, allow for improvements to be made to the existing product and give them an extra year to think about a full rebuild. Plus it’s an entirely new game for non PS4 owners. Digital delivery is the future of gaming, music and any downloadable product (well, it’s the present, but you get my drift), with physical discs and so on rapidly being phased out of existence, so to make a base game at AAA price and keep it current with yearly updates makes sense, particularly when they blatantly sell us the same game with updated rosters etc every year anyway. Why not admit that, own it and utilise it?

I think they should totally shift to this model.

If we don’t get a next gen mlb the show 21 it’ll be pretty pathetic considering both nba2k and madden went next gen already when the show has had more time to work on their game.

PES did a version of this. I would think SDS is in a position where they have to do this. If not, a lot of the animations and mechanics will have been ported over FOUR console generations.

It needs to be re-imagined from the ground up, especially hitting, and I don't think anyone would falt them in the least for making '21 a continuation in exchange for something significantly improved the following year.

I'm optimistic that they won't even try. Like another poster said, this seems to be setting up for a copy/paste update at a reduced price this year so they can rework the game for '22.

The mechanics feel archaic and the animations are more than a decade old in a lot of cases. At a certain point, you just need to start over.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. 2k basically pulled the plug on their WWE game for 2021 and aren't expected to drop another until later this year/2022.

The game has become boring for me. There are so many animations in the game that have been there so long. The commentary is already boring. The gameplay has gotten so inconsistent and confusing. It's been the same cycle for multiple years. Drop a new one, patch it to heII, then drop a new one next year and repeat.

I'm very skeptical if they can go next gen, let alone to new platforms. I'm going to be very wary of preordering anything.

My hope is that they still release MLB21TS on time for PS4 users at least, if the delays are due to the cross-platform compatibility issues. I'm going to wait until the PS5 version comes out before trying to purchase a PS5, which will also require spending $1000-$2000 for a decent 2021 model year HDMI 2.1 TV with VRR.

a TON of companies/games do this. Overwatch hasn't had a "new game" since launch, yet they do massive updates regularly.

Rainbow Six Siege has had several patches that overhaul graphics, gameplay, and content. Yes, they've updated graphics and textures through patches. (Sorry COD fans, they don't have to release a new game every year, they just love your cash).

Just because other sports games want your $60 every year, it doesn't mean that games can't and don't do it this way.

With a full staff and everyone working full time at the office, not at home separate from reach other. We get very few if any real changes. Let alone trying to do multiple platforms, a new console, and trying to make changes to this game. Which they did very little if any this whole year. I don’t have high hopes for any kind of changes. But guarantee they will give us a new box, or game and be at full price for 21.

Doesn't SDS usually put out a notice by now informing us to upload our logos in order for those things to be transferred over to the new game? Them not asking for that yet may be another indicator of a possible delay in the release date.
