I’m curious about how many bug reports/bad feedback they got during the first 3 days to warrant such a drastic change in the gameplay.
I doubt it was bug reports that made them change hitting. It was the top players batting .500. The hitting was changed to quick though and didn’t take into account that everyone was playing on all star and really good players against bad or newer players. Hitting felt good and took months to get it there, only to be changed with minimal testing and good/okay center pci swings are the norm now.
Every time I play someone with any lag this year I can’t catch up to a 95 mph fastball. Why are pitch speeds so different game to game even facing the same exact pitchers ? It doesn’t matter if I’m home team or away. I’ve never had this happen in any year before 20 and it’s so bad I’m not wanting to play online anymore.
Pitching is broken is why the era is so high for anyone that plays above 800. I use analog and can be perfect on my release and aim, the ball will then end up in the middle of the zone, or even in the zone. The black isn’t given this year. I can make perfect pitches and they’re called a ball. Outer pci is broke, I can foul off pitches nowhere near my pci, it’s a way to bail out people that are swinging at bad pitches. Then check swings need to be toned way down. I can check swing on pitches all game even when I’m fooled horribly.
Next year they need a set amount of time for anybody to pause the game. I have seen multiple opponents be able get 15-20 minutes of pause time in a 9 inning game, it’s excessive.
Until they spend the money to get server hosted games it isn’t going to change. At a minimum we need ping information at the matchmaking screen, that way you can determine if you want to suffer through a bad game.
Runners not advancing on hits is a major problem in moments. Why we can’t have control of the base runners is beyond me.
SDS has to fix searches next year for getting into a ranked game. Home hunters are bad for the game. Anytime they’re not home they just close out and keep searching. Ping based matchmaking has to be implemented next year. They need to make every stadium play the same, I can win or lose a game depending on the stadium and time of day that’s chosen. Weather, sun in my batting view, and rain need to be eliminated.
My list of major problems that need addressing for next gen. 1: we need dedicated servers, why this game is still on peer to peer baffles me. 2: Check swings on pitches your opponent is halfway into the next batters box, very rarely called strikes and happen way to often. 3: Outer pci needs to be a eliminated completely, very early/very late foul balls until your opponent makes some kind of contact. 4: We need 100% control over our pitchers again, if I do everything 100% right it shouldn’t end up hanging or in the middle of the plate. I’d also like to see any pitch on the black called a strike, right now it’s a guessing game and inconsistent. 5: ping based matchmaking, this is by far the worst game online to play when you play a person far away, or one that has bad internet. I can keep going but those are my major wants for next year.
I’m hitting and giving up more homeruns and hard hit balls on pitches out of the zone. Not even by a small number. Something has to be done about this. Yes I understand you can hit balls out of the zone in real life, but this isn’t real life it’s a game. I can dead center hit or pitch a ball and it go no where or be a pop up. When I look for pitches out of the zone because they’re hit harder and have a very high exit velo it’s broken. It’s the same as completely missing the target in a br but being rewarded with a highest damage hit. If I throw the ball in the zone with 2 strikes it’s a foul ball, but get your opponent to chase out of the zone with good contact and it’s destroyed
It’s not on my end, I have a monitor and win 4/5 games online. I can play on HOF/legend without lag and never have a problem catching up to any pitch. It’s 100% in the coding or opponents internet when it happens. Just trying to get others opinions on which it is.
They can’t even give potm cards to the actual potm. All the cards they’re adding are a guess every year.
I made practically the same post the other day, but worded it differently. I look for pitches out of the zone myself lately because they seem to be hit harder with a better exit velocity. A good timing swing on the ball out of the zone is always hit hard this year. I also have the same problem as you and compared it to a br completely missing the target and being rewarded with the highest damage shot. I understand irl mlb players get hits out of the zone, but this isn’t irl it’s a game and my opponents and I shouldn’t be rewarded for swinging at junk.
Why is home hunting still possible? If you play an above average player they’re home hunting in br and ranked. I get 3-5 quits if I’m the home team once I make it so far into either. I’m forced to play away at a stadium and time of day I didn’t choose just to play. They need to have you pick your pitcher, your lineup, and then enter a search and have it truly random if you’re home or away.
The only way you’ll get better ping is to move closer to or next to the server.
The programming is in the game already. They made universal Dh for rtts. So you’re not able to improve your pitchers hitting without making them a 2 way player.
If Wainwright retires this year it will be to spend more time with his family. He’s not yet said it was his final year. I will miss Yadi but you can tell it’s time to retire.

Agree. I'm not playing RS so far this year but since they are using "Innings" as the metric they should also code it such that a W = 9 Innings. This rewards teams for going up early only to have the other team quit as well as addresses the whole "8 Innings" calc when you don't bat in the bottom of the 9th.
They can’t even give us full innings played if we switch pitchers mid inning. I don’t have any faith in them coding a 9 innings credit for quits.
I’d imagine with buttons it’s set to the fielders stats. Make the switch to button accuracy. It’s easy to learn and the only fielding errors that are made are your fault and not rng deciding when you have an errant throw.
It’s not just current stats that affect a players rating. It’s the past few years as well. If not a player that plays great for a month and a half could have a mid 90’s card. Plus trying to figure out how SDS does player upgrades or downgrades is anyones guess, and doesn’t make sense a lot of the time.
