I got matched up with a player in Ranked Seasons who came in with a record of something like 11-65. I decided to pitch to contact to give this person a chance to hit.

I threw meatball after meatball, and this person struck out time after time, including multiple times on flat fastballs right down the pipe.

Eventually, they hit a long home run and I triggered the replay. I took the lead with a 4-spot in the 4th or 5th, and I continued to throw strikes on every pitch, the only very rare exceptions being when I missed the zone by a few inches. In other words, I was basically being as nice as I could be throughout the game. There was zero chance of me losing, so why not? Why not in any case, really... although it's rare that "nice" translates into 70 down-the-middle fastballs in a game.

Anyway, whoever this person is responded by beaning four or five of my players, calling time with the home plate umpire as often as possible, and just generally being as obnoxious as they could.

I've been online for far, far too long for any kind of behavior to surprise me anymore, but it's still amazing to see someone acting like a [censored] for no reason, let alone in the face of generosity.

Just goes to show that nice guys finish in last... Sad but true. I recently had a back and forth barn burner of a game and lost in the bottom of the 10th or 11th... I messaged them with a "good game" and he responded with some smart [censored] douchebag reply. That's just online play in general, any game

Unlike some of these Jack A** replies, I feel for you. Guys like that suck the fun out of the game.

I played an event game earlier and matched up with a guy who I could tell was good. He got a single with Cobb than the antics started with insisting on taking the lead ( or the double step and back taunt) so for almost 10 minutes I would wait until they made my pitcher come set, and step off.

This went along with bunt dancing. I held him to a run and hit a couple homers off Pearson by just waiting in the high fastballs to win 3-1 , which felt fantastic. Checked his record and he has a high season of around 960, so a guy that would kill me in a 9 inning game. But I love sticking it to these type of players any chance I get.

I have realized that a lot of people who have that kind of record either quit if you score just one run or do a bunch of toxic stuff the whole game so unfortunately if I see a record like that, I am trying to destroy them as soon as possible (like I said they will probably quit after the first run you score). If they happen to be someone who is actually just that bad, then sorry, it is a competitive mode so it's on them to get better.

That's a good strategy, especially since the invariably racist replies from some fools will then enable you to report them, cleansing the server that much more.

Pout-quitting seems to be getting worse all the time, as if those who engage in it have never learned to deal with even the tiniest amount of frustration in their lives.

Case in point, I had what I'd thought was a good game going with an opponent who played quickly, no nonsense, just my type of player. We were locked in an early pitcher's duel when in the bottom of the 4th (I think) he/she connected and sent a BLAST to straightaway centerfield. I sent my CF after it, hoping that the angle would at least give me a chance at keeping it in the park.

Just as my CF got to the wall, I sent him leaping at the last second and he caught the ball a good three feet over the wall. The opponent paused the game. Two minutes later, he/she requested a friendly quit, which I rejected.

    "Lost connection with opponent."

I wasn't winning. In fact, I was being no-hit through that point in the game and the opponent was pitching really well. Missing out on a home run was enough to trigger a pout quit. Amazing.

sometimes I'll quit just because I don't care anymore, even if I'm winning. Though I'd never run the clock down then ask for a friendly.

I've played opponents who have requested FQs while down by scores of 8-2, 6-0, and a few other strong/late leads which don't stick out in my mind. It's really sleazy to try escaping a loss like that. Such behavior on the part of spoilsports is my justification for why I think that accepting an FQ ought to require confirmation.

As for your strategy of quitting while winning, all that I can say to that is wanna play? Hehe. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just had another of these guys....event game, again he singles with Cobb, than insists on trying to take that extra step lead....I donโ€™t know why, but that along with bunt dancing just make my blood boil... once I have thrown over 3x, than step off every time, they should get the idea I am nit letting it go.....so after about 20 minutes we played this game of he takes the lead, I let my pitcher be forced to come set, than step off...(about every 5 minutes he would not take the step than I would throw and I thought, alright, we can move on......but nope, next pitch is 5 more minutes....)

He finally stopped and I immediately got a double play ground ball on a full count, and than went on to hold him hitless rest of the way while winning 3-0..... yeah, itโ€™s ridiculous that I get that fired up to the point where I will wait them out, but at least I can admit it ๐Ÿ˜Ž
