Remove the checkswing is all I ask.
Circle allows for easier check swings so removing contact swings helps that too
I'm fine with the contact swing.

What would they do to make the discipline attribute relevant? I’m assuming that check swings are impacted by the discipline attribute. Is that correct?

Would it be a good idea to fix check swings by having 1-2per hitter? As in let’s say they only get up to 2 check swings that at bat? Most mlb players usually only do 1-2 an at bat if that.

Yeah it is. I guess you could make it influence close calls with a variable umpire in offline play? Make it an offline attribute or reintroduce the variable strike zone online. I always liked the variable strike zone in online. Gave a bit more simulation to the game.

My problem isn’t with the check swinging.....it’s all the other dumb sh!t in the game. Check swings/fouls are at the very bottom of the long list of problems. Pitching, base running, R2

People use Circle?

R2 is not as bad as it was in years past.

If it's in the game...

I’m trying to understand not wanting check swings. It happens a ton in real life too. My annoyance is more the call down to the umpire which holds up the game and the lunging animation. Just keep the check swing fluid and I could care less.

Agreed, I can live with the foul offs but the check swings are just maddening.

Had an absolute miserable game yesterday. All the basics, pausing, R2, bunt dancing, extra step with 99/99 speed, but what I really hate is the amount of fouling off. It’s an Allstar game and it’s just foul after foul. The lunging forward animation on balls in the dirt yet fouled. It’s basically hit circle with two strikes until the inevitable mistake pitch or walk happens.
Just an idea but what if guys with contact under 90 in Allstar circle button (contact swing) is disabled. Under 80 it’s disabled in HOF and legend. This would be online only and I think would really cut down on a huge amount of foul balls. Many of these cards in real life if had contact under 80 or so are more than likely power hitters with a bad eye anyway and would not be fouling off like they do in the game.
What do you think?
I’m pretty sure it’s just you my dude. I don’t think anyone who knows anything about this game is going to swing with circle on All Star difficulty Online -
To laugh that nobody uses circle on AllStar is laughable to me. Bad hitting players will use it with two strikes trying to avoid a strikeout. It’s easy to get these sort of players to two strikes yet a chore to get them to swing and miss the third. I welcome you to try an experiment. Play a game where you only swing with square, then a game only hitting X, then another only using circle. I guarantee you will check swing and foul the most with circle and almost never with square. Do some of you honestly have multiple 10 pitch ABs using X? I sure don’t, I will hit the ball in play or a foul out instead of 6 foul balls in a row.
I don’t think some of you understand the ripple effect fouling balls off at an unrealistic pace does. How often do you cruise through the first two outs then it’s foul after foul on pitches you clearly fooled your opponent with. Now you are racking up unnecessary pitches and allow a bs walk or bloop hit. Your pitcher tires faster and loses confidence. Next batter is a moonshot instead of getting out of the third inning tied with a total of 25 pitches. Your now down by two with 45 pitches because your opponent continues to foul unrealistic balls off.
You now yank your starter in the 5th because he is at 70 pitches, confidence is shot and is throwing meatballs. Your bullpen will come in early and now be low on energy for the next game. You end up losing to a bloop hitting, swing at everything maniac and all you got to show is a depleted bullpen and a few less hairs.

I mentioned this idea a long while ago but why not shrink the pci when it leaves the zone? I know they attempt to limit it based on the range of how far your pci can go outside the zone, but any diamond card usually has high enough vision/contact that their outer PCI still extends to unrealistic lengths.
For any part of the pci that’s outside the zone, have it shrink by 30-40% (whatever is fair) to reflect the fact that once you start leaving the zone, your chance of making contact decreases.
