One out away from a perfect game

I actually think it’s on you to prevent them from quitting. I’ve thrown 3 perfect games this year when the opponent didn’t quit. In each of them I made sure to never lead by more than 2 runs & to not do anything to enrage him such as bunting or replaying homers, ect...So for me this doesn’t count as a perfect game.
1-0 game. Didn’t bunt dance or watch home runs or anything. He was an RNG hanger away from tying the game.

I’m not too upset about it. Would’ve been my second perfecto of the year and my fourth or fifth no no. Opponent hit like .190 online, and my opponent was ranked 200 points below me, so If it doesn’t count, it’s for those reasons. He was already bunt dancing and brushing back my pitcher so I was expecting it. I’ll give him credit for quitting with one out to go rather than dashboarding when I was about to get the final strike or when a pop up was in the air. Still, I don’t get to bent out of shape about rage quits or dashboards, I’m more proud of the (almost) perfect game then upset about the quit.

I’m not disagreeing with any of you, It’s absolutely ridiculous...But I’m telling you - Someone is much more likely to stick around if they’re only down a run or two & if you’re not agitating them. Yes, It could cost you the game but that’s when you have to determine what’s more important to you - Securing the win or going for the perfect game?
-
Nice work, dude. It definitely still counts

Just Remember! He knows that you know that he knows he got the Perfecto shoved.

100% counts, nice work

Hard to believe no one has asked yet... who was on the mound for you?

I would count that for sure and congrats. I really don't get people getting bent out of shape over a game. Some people are just so small minded.

Of course it’s his fault!! Everybody knows you shouldn’t get more than a 2 run lead!!! If you “Git Gud” you won’t blow the lead right?? This is the dumbest sh!t I’ve ever heard!!!

People will stick around alot longer if they think they have a chance to win. If it’s the 7th or 8th inning of a perfect game & you put up a 3 run homer, Most people will be out at that point. And as I said in my previous post - If you just care about the win then yeah fire away...But if you really want to pitch a perfect game then keeping it close greatly increases the chances that they won’t quit.

May I ask what the ball-strike count was when he rage quitted?

That sucks man...I came within one out of BEING no-hit earlier in the year. Mantle came through with a RNG 30 hopper just past the second baseman. Saved me some pain.
I was nervous for the guy who had the no-hitter but also for myself not wanting that hung on me.
I did throw a perfect game with shallow Hal and it was a 11 inning affair with a 1-0 walk off win!

He disconnected with one out to go. Batter hadn’t made it to the plate yet. He had his pitcher batting 8th, and the pinch hitter had just gotten out so maybe he thought it was over
-
I would have just bunted to get a hit.

It was a 1-0 game, a bunt wouldn’t have been out of line, though with one out to go, probably not the best move

Depends on how much speed my guy has. If I'm being no hit through 8.2, might as well chance it.
