MLB 21 early

Any opinions on MLB the Show 21 coming early because we are most likely going into another lockdown at the end of January. With that, why not get the game out when everyone will have the best chance to play the game.

So, first off, I would expect for the lockdown to happen sooner. Illinois will be soon. I would LOVE for this to happen, but here are two problems:
- They might not have the game ready by March!
- I am guessing they would have told us by now, but I could be wrong.
Thoughts?

I wouldn't expect any early release but who knows. My guess is though that 21 will be released around the same time it always is.

They can't just decide to put it out months early just because of a lockdown, that's not how development cycles work

Well theoretically if the execs decided that’s what they wanted to maximise sales, they could... but it wouldn’t be a game the devs or the users would be proud of.

Already in another lockdown here (England), not that it makes any difference.

Would the skip 21 & go with some DLC for the current game? I can't see them getting into work til a vaccine is in general release.
A blank stadium for franchise and some upgrades to DD & RTTS.Then port it over to PS5 & Xbox.
I'm not going to be to hard on them given the current global situation.

The thing to remember is that covid is effecting everything. Chances are real good that it has effected SDS. With that said I would be more inclined to think 21 will come out late rather than early. Hopefully they can get it out about the same time as other years. They need to take care of all their staff first then the game will be second. People's life and health should be first always.

There's also the issue that teams won't have finalized rosters, uniform changes, league rules etc that would have to be patched later.
