Compared my pitching statistics from 19 to 20...

Let me be clear I’m not a great player. I’m average, maybe above average at best. I don’t go 12-0 and I make WS but that’s about it, I’m not great.
I only looked at the era, HR’s allowed, and walks allowed. Despite me playing 167 less games in 20 than 19, I have given up 161 more walks, 229 more home runs and my era went from a 3.85 in 19’ to a 5.35 in 20’.
I think these numbers help support the statement that User input doesn’t matter as much as it should, either the human pitcher consistency slider has been reduced or human pitcher control Slider has been reduced, or both. to me it’s clear that pitching has lost a lot of its skill gap.
Hopefully in 21 pitching will get an overhaul. Curious to see if any of you guys have compared your stats.

Everyone knows pitching is broke, but SDS just doesn’t want to fix it.

I don’t know, my ERA is 3.04 but then again i never try for World Series and have only played 76 games (56-20). I normally stop around 600 bc I don’t feel like grinding. I may be able to get to WS but I have so many other games I play I don’t dedicate the time. I may not be able to either lol.
This game is a little wonky with hit feedback that helps and hurts, but I feel like as long as you mostly hit your spots and Change speeds consistently then you will pitch wel. But then again I played and coached college ball so I try and throw like a real game. It’s the forced hangers and odd hit feedback that get runs on me. If you learn how pitching works and strategies then you’re pitching will improve.

I disagree. I’m a college pitcher as well and pitching in this game is almost nothing like irl. High sinkers irl get BANGED. On this game for the first few months all you saw was high sinkers. If I throw an 0-2 breaking ball you can book it I’m not missing middle middle but on this game they autohang

When I started playing DD in 16, I only knew how to pitch with Classic pitching. I got pretty roughed up in RS but I had a winning record. Learned analog between 16 and 17 release and I pitch much better but the ball rarely goes where I throw it even on a perfect release. It hasa progressively gotten worse like you say since 17. Shame really.

I started playing last year and my biggest complaint was the pitching. As someone that was learning zone from the ground up, obviously I wasn't a consistent hitter. Plus I was on a tv and didn't realize it's an entirely different game with a monitor.
But even with pitching being suspect, it's still what kept me in most games. I pitched my entire baseball life so I know how to sequence and it showed most of the time. The games where I was hitting I tended to win easily. Games I struggled offensively I wasn't getting blown out.
But I would have zero issue getting beat by elite hitters if my pitches went where I aimed on good input. Because either I made a mistake that was taken advantage of or the hitter just beat me. I can live with that.
But this year, I have zero confidence that my pitches will go where intended. The black not being called whatsoever and forcing the ball into the zone for hitters to crush, amplified by the magnetized pitches and early HRs/bombs on swings where the PCI doesn't touch the ball and it just feels so bad.
On both sides of the ball, I never really have an idea on what I need to do better to be better. The game has a feedback system that you would think would help me improve, but often times it leaves me feeling clueless. I'll nail a pitching input only for it to go middle middle and get launched. Then when batting I'll square up two balls in a row that are hit right at people. Then on the next swing I'll completely miss with my PCI and hit a bomb.
This year feels so heavily balanced to appease hitters. Maybe most people just want to mash buttons while pitching and then try to play HR Derby. But not me. I'd rather queue into a HoF playlist and grind that to get tangibly better as opposed to being run through the All-Star mulcher and taking breaks from the game because I can't stand it. If they made pitching more balanced it might make things sting less.

I agree, this is why we have people saying “this game is just RNG” and so on. It really feels like a series of random, or scripted, if that’s your preferred argument, outcomes. Either way, everyone agrees accurate input is far from the determining factor when playing, be it hitting or pitching and in some cases is barely considered when you look at the actual results you get from good or even perfect inputs at times and the comparative results of mediocre timing and accuracy with the sticks that seem to happen just as often.

It sucks. The game is awful in online play. If pitch speeds were consistent that would be a start. I go from mashing the ball against a pitcher on the same difficult level to not being able to foul a ball off. Same pitcher. That isn’t my hitting, that’s latency and it’s atrocious.

My favorite experience with pitch speeds is I faced Nolan Ryan and Nate Pearson back to back on HOF and crushed them. Next game Alec mills blew 92 by me for 6 innings

You guys remember the pitching from the Beta? Truly made me believe pitching would matter this year too.
But it also made me realize there is too large of a skill gap for any of us to get the competitive game we want. Nobody wants to strikeout 10-15 times a game and that’s exactly what’ll happen if they just decided to flip the “input matters” switch, especially on pitching.
They figured out what sells a million copies, and it’s definitely not what the hardcore, 3-5 thousand of us want. Kind of gotta get used to it.

I have to disagree somewhat. Yes RNG is part of it, but when I get my [censored] handed to me by a bronze guy, with all low level diamonds against my Tatis, Ramirez, Ruth, Mantle, Musial, Posey etc...RNG goes out the window and does come down to player skill. Some guys are just better than me and it's something you gotta live with. When I hear nothing but loud cracks on every single pitch I throw, whether or not it's a strike, I tend to call some kind of bullsh, but it's not all bullsh. Some guys are just that good. Really wish they would fix pitching though.

This is a fair assessment and I would assume the ultimate answer. But why not give the rest of us options? I would play exclusively on HoF where input mattered more even if it meant getting killed every game. I said before I would even love a "hardcore" mode where position players have stamina that needs managed too because it would mean you need to manage your bench as well.
If a majority of people want things the way they are ok. But give the rest of us an option too. I've avoided RS for so long because I just don't want to play on All-Star. I can handle event games for 3 innings on AS but the idea of Ranked just makes me want to uninstall the game. Between the pitch speeds/latency issue and the stuff being discussed in here it just sounds like the most unappealing way to spend 45 minutes.
I'll be waiting for the Xbox version next year either way but I feel like I'll look back on this year and regret not playing with guys like Mantle and Walker because they'll be harder to get next year. But the way the game plays and feels has just kept me away all year.

I checked out my eras from 19 and it was a disappointing experience to say the least. Kershaw last year barely had a 3 era and now all of my best pitchers are above a 5. And my bullpen is even worse

Did I say I threw high sinkers? I said I pitch like I’d call a game and it works out fine most of the time. The high sinkers is stupid and even if it works on the game I don’t do it. I agree with what are saying, I’m saying I pitch like I’d call it. Other than the random forced hanger, I do fine. I know others take advantage of the cheese pitches but I don’t. If you understand pitching you probably don’t have a high era on this game is assume. The poor pitch results on good timing affects me sometimes and forces walks but generally I don’t have issues giving up tons of runs. Most games the other guy is lucky to score 2, the problem is I suck at hitting. And I admit I have rage quit when the pitches aren’t hitting spots and the game hangs one on me, but my era is 3.01

This. It drives me bonkers and it SO frustrating. Also, if you have a pitcher you’re normally good with that starts giving up loud outs or cheap hits, just warm up another starter and swap him, cause it’ll be a loooong game.
