    Time for some data:

    2018: 376 packs earned
    All Standard Packs

    2019: 956 packs earned
    28 BIAG
    3 for Baseball Card Day
    377 Standard Packs
    71 Headliners
    458 The Show packs
    21 Twitch Drops packs

2020 so far... 1747 packs (does NOT include 2 Bronze/2 Silver Team Packs)
    198 BIAG
    61 Headliners
    415 Team Affinity Packs
    874 The Show Packs
    199 Twitch Packs

Yes, having Twitch Drops has increased the # of packs.
Yes, double login rewards has upped things a little as well.
And yes, there was a LOT of conquesting going on early in the year to load up on a bunch of 10 pack bundles.

But it's beyond arguable that they've doled out A LOT more packs this year.

There are way too many easy ways to earn stubs. I’m all for providing more ways for people to use players, but consider all of the topps now cards going for 10k and how easy those moments are, plus RIB packs, plus all of the other easy ways you can earn stubs/players to sell.

Additionally, as saveferris has pointed out, there have been wayyyy more packs available in so many different ways this year. Events, programs, team affinity especially giving out 130 ballin packs in total or somethinf.

I wish there was an easier way to count that all up, without having to manually count.

As I said, that does not include ...
    2 Bronze/2 Silver team packs
    Ducks on the Pond
    Prospects
    Beach Ball
    Home Run Derby
    Run it Back
    Any other special one-shot packs.

    ME TOO!

Maybe if I spent more than 5 seconds learning the intricacies of Google Sheets, I'd find a better way. But for now, it's just 'take the spreadsheet, sort, and count'.

Yeah, they’ve messed up with content this year in a lot of ways. By messed it up, I mean they’ve shot themselves in the foot for maximising stub sales and making some cards inaccessible to the majority of players. Nobody is going to buy stubs because first of all, cards are wildly overpriced now. Bob Feller is $600. Alomar is $400. Wagner and Chipper are unobtainable even for $10000.

Now in terms of content this year, in my opinion - you may not agree - The whole prospects/future stars thing dragged out too long, the early player programs like Keith Hernandez and Rookie Dawson were awful, events have had endless timeframes and awful settings, only TA3 and a handful of player programs have really been worthwhile so far.

Now in the case of locking away the best cards in the game: There’s an argument to made that the best cards will be now only be obtained by the best players and in the case of WS rewards like Henderson, Piazza and Sale, or even cumulative event rewards like Goose, I can accept that. If that’s the intent, they should make them unsellable and let people earn them. Hiding the best cards in the game behind a garbage mode like BR that is neither based on skill nor putting in time and effort to reach a win milestone is stupid. If you want to give the best cards to the best players, hand them out at 1000 points in RS. Guys who’ve played on HoF and Legend and succeeded to get there. Give them to someone who spent the time to win 100 total games even. 12-0 in BR?!? They may as well just run a lottery to win the cards and sell tickets for stubs if they’re going to hand them out to early swinging directional hitters who take advantage of all star settings and pitchers who come in exhausted and are forced to hang pitch after pitch on good input so the game can be filled with infinite home runs. At Shippet. Dumb AF.

I think they’ve actually done a great job with content this year. The new event structure is by far the best, with more rewards than ever. The early player programs served a point of giving out easy Diamond players for new guys while also being program points/collection fodder. It would be nice if future stars had been toned down just a bit and didn’t take up as many spots for legends, but it wasn’t so bad. If they tone down how many stubs people can earn then it would be much better, or if they figure out new ways for people to spend stubs.

I don’t exactly get what your complaint is about BR though. It’s a crapshoot, and everybody knows it is, that’s kind of the point. Good players still generally come out on top in BR. I agree there need to be better rewards for 1000 and up in ranked but I don’t think BR needs to be changed at all.

I thick early on stubs weren’t easy to come by. I remember flipping with tiny margins over and over to get stubs. But the last month or so (as typically happens this time of the year) there are some pretty big spreads on a few cards in particular that you can flip over and over for 7-10k each time if not more. That plus the RIB pack cards still going for 20-25k on average has made a ton of new stubs in the past month or so (with much higher prices for things as a result).

@Original_Quad Exactly that. It’s a crapshoot. PCI is huge and the only thing that matters is mashing the ball, pitching and defense are, while not irrelevant, marginalised, for want of a better word. So we award the best cards in the game to the winners of a crapshoot.

The skilled players who get to 1000 in RS can have a 10 standard pack bundle and 30000 XP. Seems absolutely correct, yes.

Why even have a cap. I wanna see what someone will pay on a truly open market for chipper and AJ Ramos lol

That would be a bad idea! You’ll have 100 or so guys out there absolutely destroying the market (and yes I’m including myself).

As a Madden and 2k My team player . This is my first year taking MLBTS seriously and actually grinding. I sacrificed the time I spent on madden to play mlb and it was absolutely worth it. I was surprised how much compensation we get , this game is the definition of a non pay to play game. I didn’t bought any stubs and I’ve racked up over 2mill stubs. Currently I have 800k stubs And my whole team it’s worth about 800k I would guess . I did get sum pack luck like 2 coles but that’s it. All you have to is play and you’ll be rewarded. I will come back to more mlb games it was a fun year and it’s still not over

Nah. I wanna see a 5 million stub buy order for chipper get filled lol.

Flip margins on normal cards won’t be effected. It isn’t like you are gunna see 700k sell orders on someone like Smoltz getting fulfilled (because you could do that now but no one lets the card value get that high).

The cap by tier should be removed entirely. Let Machado sit at 20k, let Ramos and Bard sit at 3k.
