People do not dashboard over stats, they dashboard because they get mad they gave up a hit or HR or whatever. It is not cheating to dashboard. You might not like it but it is not cheating. No way that SDS can fix that issue. Have I done, yes I have, when I do not think my opponent deserve to hit a HR on the pitch I threw and the game rewarded them especially if the game caused me to make an error with a diamond fielder and the next batter hits a BS HR. but that's not all the time. That is a small percentage of games. You sound like it happens to you over 50 percent of your games. If I do it, It is never ever ever about a players stats, always about the game. Because this game especially 18 and 19 were about hitting and not pitching, Pitching was almost useless in this game.
So you dashboard when YOU hit a BS HR or generate an RBI hit or otherwise? You police yourself or just what others do? Ridiculous.
I do not dashboard on singles, doubles or Triples. Only BS HR and it also depends on the player I am playing and how they are playing. A lot goes into it for me to dashboard it is not just get mad and quit it is usually a bunch of things that lead up to that based on how the game is going, how my opponent is playing. example if it is in 3rd inning and opponent hits a so called BS HR to go up 1-0, I will continue the game. It is things over the course of the game that take place is when I would Dashboard someone. Again it is rare for me to do it. It is probably less then 1 percent of my RS games. I do not more in the event games.

As I stated in my original post... most of you that seem to not mind portend to be “great skilled players”, some of us are not and occasionally jump into a game and occasionally have an outstanding game or achievement that we’d like to have count. You all that don’t mind, fine... but you do not speak for everyone who plays the game. Have your opinion, that is just as valid as mine, but do not discount my point.
I am deserving of those stats and it’s like stealing... they are being stolen away via CHEATING!
THERE IS A WAY TO QUIT HONORABLY BY CHOOSING QUIT GAME IN THE MENU, NOT THIS “DASHBOARDING”. IT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL!
Again, I think the “active” play should complete, then disconnect if “dashboarded”. This will at least give player what they earned justly.
And seriously, enough with this “I don’t care...” You will care when it makes a difference in some of the achievements you must earn in the game taking you hour and hours more to complete! The fundamental problem that most people have with your posts is that you don’t understand what the word “cheating” means, but we’re clearly not going to change your mind, so whatever... Keep yelling at the clouds.
So enlighten me all mighty one as to how dashboarding is not cheating? Is it an in game function or does it require the player to actively, purposely unplug/disconnect to escape the game? Again, the fundamental problem with your response is your understanding that whatever is outside normal circumstances of the game to disconnect purposely to avoid negative stats is in fact cheating at its very core.
And btw, I am not the only one who has posted that feels this way. I like all the energy spent on justifying cheating instead of responding with ways to improve or eliminate this issue regardless if YOU care or not.I will say once again, if you are having a terrible game or otherwise would like to exit the game for whatever reason, there is a way to do that with integrity and honest gameplay without CHEATING! Hit pause, and exit game correctly through the menu... it accomplishes what you want without CHEATING others out of stats they EARNED! The game itself is the arbiter of the outcomes, not you.
No one is arguing that it’s not a scummy thing to do. If you want to know why it’s not cheating, try opening a dictionary.

I would agree that it does skew stats when they dashboard before the play finishes, but I just don't see how the game code could account for that.
Best suggestion would be to calculate how often it happens to you (say 10% of games) and then apply a 10% modifier to your player's stats.
It there are 2 questions...
Can’t the play that has started complete if the disconnect happens during the play, then allow the game to cease the game and disconnect? And, I’d like to see the opponents disconnections prior to committing my time to play them. Why is that not possible?
Thanks all!
Your second question should be much more possible than the first.
Allowing the play to complete would be difficult because you would need to determine when it happens once the ball is in play.
For example, if I'm in the middle of throwing a pitch and I disconnect, does the pitch still get thrown? Do you still get to hit it? If you hit a groundball or a flyball, who fields it?
Right now, once a disconnect happens the game just stops there.
Agreed. Thank you for continuing the discussion. It is important to me. I HATE CHEATING. I do believe it is cheating.
So a simple Win-Loss-Disconnections display of record before committing to play that opponent seems reasonable. No?
It is not cheating; you feel cheated out of a HR or whatever, sure, but it is not cheating because the loser gets an L and the winner a W. These are really slim issues compared to match making. It sucks, but these are just stats, plus, if you play Conquest, they are blended together so they're basically useless.
exactly
OP just feels entitled to getting that HR or double or run or whatever - ppl quit all the time, you get the W and you move on it aint rocket science - perhaps you just care way too much about things which don't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things
To be fair, if you hit a HR, you are entitled to the HR. It's only because the stats don't mean anything that I feel it's a non-issue.
If player stats actually mean something in '20 or a future version of the game, then it should certainly be fixed in some way.
absolutely i mean there were good take aways from his post i agree with you guys on that ive had probably 2 grand slams taken away from me this past year bc of that bull quit stuff

This is just a petty complaint. Yeah, it's annoying not getting a homerun counted, but who cares. You still get the win, so it's not cheating you out of anything except for a personal stat that means nothing. Holding the R2 button down is so much worse. They really need to stop having that affect the other player
-
"I dont think that word means what you think it means"
I agree completely that people who want to rage quit should just exit the game naturally and not dashboard. I hate dashboarding it is obviously something that shows a lack of respect to your opponent. But the word cheating doesn't seem right, the victim of the dashboard may feel cheated out of a deserved stat, but that is a flaw in the game that cheated you, the dashboarder didnt cheat, he was just an [censored]... no offense.
-
This thread was made because someone didn't know the difference between cheating and an inconvenience

We can debate semantics for ever, but I think most of agree that it is a sh*t thing to do and with online missions gaining a bit of importance in '20, it will have an effect on game enjoyment.
I just don't see how they would stop it.

Hi All! First, I cannot wait for ‘20 to drop for us all to enjoy. I am really looking forward to having fun and competing against you all this season! I am new to this game (since Sept. ‘19) and hope for the continued evolution and fantastic gameplay to provide us all with many hours of entertainment.
One of the most frustrating and pervasive issues that has bothered me thus far is the frequency of CHEATING! Admittedly, I am a novice player at this game so far and have difficulty with hitting. I continue to play games and strive to find ways to improve my recognition of pitches and their location. So, when I do have a great day at the plate, I am probably more excited than most of you since it isn’t very often!
On to my MAJOR COMPLAINT... SDS. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE CHEATERS!
Several weeks ago I hit my first Grand Slam walk-off HR. I was so excited and was hoping there might be a trophy rewarded for that. Except... it did not count! The type of cheating I am referring to is the player (if you can call them that) that DISCONNECT their internet connections as HR balls are flying out of the stadium! I cannot tell you how many times this has happened to me. I don’t even know how they do it so quickly, like they have one hand or foot on the power to their router! It got to a point to where I reported it via email to support including the game ID at least 30 times now and continue to do so every time. I am usually responded to which is great, but the answers are always cookie cutter.
THIS TYPE OF CHEATING SKEWS STATS FOR BOTH PLAYERS HISTORY. YOU DO NOT GET THE POSITIVE STATS AND THEY DO NOT GET THE NEGATIVE STATS.
I propose these remedies to SDS:
-
MUST ALLOW ALL PLAYS TO COMPLETE! There is no reason for a HR “call” to happen and because the player disconnects real quick, the play does not complete. This is not just HR’s, it has happened to me with doubles down the line that would have scored a player on first, etc...
-
Frequent offenders should be temporarily barred from playing against other online players for 24 hours and escalating as the offenses occur.
-
Have the opportunity to review the opponents number of disconnected games prior to committing to play them. Since we see no stats or info on our opponent before starting a game, perhaps on the pitcher select screen just before game, display that opponents number of disconnections to give us the choice whether to continue forward with playing. If I see a record of 100-62-88, (the “88” being the players disconnections during gameplay) I certainly would not move forward with that game! This seems like the simplest to implement into our beloved game!
I hope that SDS drops in and reviews this forum and responds or addresses ideas and issues raised here by the community.
Ideas anyone?
Best, AJ
Yeah I know how you feel it happen to a few times and that's one of the main reasons I don't play online
True Story: I was playing someone and it was the 3rd inning and I was up 6-0 that person wanted to Friendly quit and I denied it once the 4th inning came around. He lost connection I was oh brother really. And I kid you not I went online 2-3 weeks ago and I played him again. I don't know if he noticed my name tag or not but I did and he beat me 5-3. I played the whole game I could've quit so he can feel what I felt when I was playing him last time around but I didn't. To me finishing the game gave me the victory that day because it showed him that I never quit or had bad connection -

I’ve played 3 ranked season games today. I’ve had 3 consecutive opponents dashboard on me within the first three innings.
Guess what? I don’t care. I moved up a division in about 20 minutes since they saved me some time. This is a perfect example of making a mountain out of a mole hill.
How many games would it take to go from 0 to CS this way? I’ve one more trophy to get for platinum (got Plat in 17 and 18 so I thought I’d go for it) and I’d never played a ranked season game until a few days ago (I lost).
Wasn’t even going to bother trying until I saw your post!

It’s hard to say. I didn’t play much ranked this year since I was sick over the summer (I’m around 100-38) and I started this season at 400. I think I’m 7-1 so far and somewhere in the 600’s, and only a couple of those games have actually gone the full 9 innings. I may be averaging 35-45 points per win. It should be a little easier for you to make CS if you wait until the hardcore players move over to 20.

There is no deceit going on or fraud, its very much in the open, so you are wrong there. So 1 is wrong
"Too influence", you are not influenced to doing anything, so 2 is wrong.
If there was a rule against quitting, I think you would have a very thin case, sadly last I knew there is no rule against quitting, so even that my friend is wrong.
Again I hate dashboarding, but it is not a form of cheating no matter how much you hate it or want it to be. Cheating is not the right word, your definitions actually prove that. I am of course sorry that you will disagree with me and will continue to cry about it, but you can't just take half of the sentence in the definition.

Dishonest fool... again not comprehending the meaning of the word and the action. I am not crying, I just find it unbelievable that you argue “dashboarding” instead of quitting the game without cheating someone from stats they earned and not counted against is anything but. But keep trying... your crushing it! Maybe we can wipe out your stats or better yet do any nefarious thing we want in the game because there is a way! So stupid to have this come to a squabble over this. It’s not just HR’s, it’s ANY STATISTICAL MEASURE THE GAME ACCUMULATES PER PLAYERS HISTORICAL GAMEPLAY! IF THAT IS INFRINGED ON IN ANY WAY NEFARIOUSLY, IT IS CHEATING THE STATS!
I will find a way to pose this question to SDS and post their response as to whether “dashboarding” PURPOSLY is CHEATING or not. If they intended for gamers to skew statistics brazenly by ANYTHING other than a true internet/electrical/console issue or if **PURPOSELY ** resetting, disconnecting or otherwise is not a violation of some sort which identifies as cheating.
You aren’t anything but a wise guy... keep up with the charade that this does not matter... UNTIL THE GAMEPLAY CHANGES TO WHERE IT DOES MATTER STATS HAVE A SIGNIFICANT GAMEPLAY MEANING!Will post that response soon whether I am proved right or wrong according to SDS.

I eagerly await to hear a response from SDS, dashboarding was a major problem with 17, after that they started to get away from online stats towards programs, now with Prestige Diamonds, online stats are back. So dashboarding could be a factor again.
