Love to see SDS give Gordon a Topps Now for his retirement. Known the guy since I was 14. Played with him and you could tell the kid was special. We all knew it. I'm sure some might bash him because he didn't turn out to be the player he was hyped up to be, but he faced adversity and turned around his whole career.
World Series Champ. Platinum Glove winner. 7X Gold glove left fielder. 3X All-Star.
As good as he was off the field he was even better off of it. Always humble. Made Nebraska have something to root for besides our football team which.... well you know.
Will never forget Game 1 bottom of the 9th

Amazing how you can tell at a certain age that some kids just got the “superior athletic gene.” Real cool you got to be apart of that

When I was quite younger, I was hardcore into fantasy baseball. I remember when Gordon and Ryan Braun were the top prospects coming up at 3B. It can be argued that Gordon never quite lived up to the hype offensively but he was amazing defensively, great leader and all around consummate professional. That to me, is worth much more than what the latter brought to the game

It was so obvious. He would do things almost every game where we were like yeah.... we can't do that. LOL
