Alec Mills’s curveball has more break than Gagne’s and his sinker moves a ton as well. It’s almost a good thing his “heater” is more of a “room-temper” because a pitcher with that much break on a 68mph curve, that much drop and run on the sinker, and a big boy fastball would be unhittable. Not to mention 125 H/9 and 92 control. I don’t think I used his slider, but with 99 break it might be nasty. And it comes in slow at 77, so he might be the righty Sale in that regard.
To be fair, I haven’t faced him and I only used him in relief on AS vs. CPU for the Rendon program, so it’s not like I really put him through the paces. But if I’m lavishing praise on someone in a cubs uniform then you know he must be good. Anyone use him on RS in HoF (or higher... not that I’ll be getting to legend this year)?

As a cubs fan I’m thrilled to have this card but not sure how good he will be . I faced someone using his card in the event and scored 5 runs including 2 Homeruns in two innings , the opp raged quit .
-
I faced him on HOF in RS last night. He induced a lot of week contact in the first 5 innings before I got to him with a 4 spot. I think his card will do well for most.
-
I faced him in RS and after the 2nd pitch, 2-0 count, the guy quit.
-
Pci is small against him too
-
I am yet to face him but I’m not exactly looking forward to it
-
Faced him last night, not impressed...good luck tho.
-
HOF difficultly 8IP 3ER and a lot of Ks (probably my opponents is not a good hitter). His sinker curve combo is superb on getting strike and his slider also go down to high 70. Speed differential is superb if you can use him well.
-
I can't wait to use him!
-
I faced him last night and struggled at first
Because I was just coming out of my shoes on every pitch. Reminded me of facing Maddux ; it took a couple of innings to figure out the guy’s approach and slow down my timing but after the 3rd inning he was essentially batting practice -
I pitched with him for an inning, I guess my opponent had to go somewhere. He feels like the type of pitcher you might be able to get 5 or 6 good innings from, but I would definitely want a rested bullpen when I throw him again.

Exactly. He's a 6 inning max pitcher, but what you get IMO is a solid to good 6 innings from him. I have a deep pen so 99 Mills, 94 Kyle Hendricks, etc I'm ok using. If I can get 7 out of them, to me that's icing on the cake.

He reminds me a lot of the wainwright ss from last year except mills has I think much better h/9. Wainwright did well for a lot of people last year. Played a lot like hershiser.

I know this is a 2 week old thread, but I just faced him for the 1st time in RS and I couldn't do anything with him. Pitches breaking from the top of the zone off the table and I had a real hard time differentiating pitches. I ended up winning the game 1-0 but he was tough, this was on AS by the way. Small PCI and tons of weak contact and solid contact hit nothing but wiffle balls.
