My Thoughts on the Dead Ball Event
-
I like this event. It's different.
-
I like the change of pace but when I hit 2 P/P fly balls to right center with Gwynn and another lefty...it stung lol
-
I would’ve loved this event on AS. Imo it would still be enough of a challenge with the high diamond pitchers and low power hitters.
That’s not to say we’ll see different variations of it in event 2 and 3
-
We will see quick counts, and 6 innings in one of the next 2 variations....sure All Star will surface too
-
ME WANT HOME RUN

I thought these were 6 inning games? Oh nevermind, it’s just scoreless ties going to extras
-
Hard pass on this event. Still love they are changing it up. See you next event.
-
..... bunt .....

The only thing I don't like is the day time play. It's difficult to see when there's a righty on the mound. Someone at the top must not have tried it out before sending it through to us.
-
My boom stick has been turned into a legit twig. Lol but well said OP
-
I actually like this one because... I can win. I can grind to a 1-0 win, or a 1-1 tie after 6 innings where my opponent quits. I NEVER QUIT. I'll take a 0-0 game into 15 innings if I have to.

I think I went into 13th and lost 1-0. Won 1st game 1-0.

I think I lost a "Moonshot" event 18-3. I was the home team so I didn't get mercy-ruled, if I remember correctly. So... this is a refreshing change of pace...

Hard pass if 6 innings no matter what it is.

I definitely understand that. I would frequently play at Forbes in Ranked when I knew the game was going to be on AS, but I at least had the decency to play in October at 7pm. Haha.

Brutal, especially considering how nerfed pitcher stamina is in the 3-inning format. Did either you or opponent have to use a position player on the mound?

Nope but I had to go to 2 starters. We used a lot of RPs for 2 innings

My games were played at night, that was a plus. I also liked the MLB coverage. It was something different and looked pretty cool. Not sure how long this event will keep my attention, but I was expecting much worse.
-
I don’t mind the event itself, I just can’t pick up the ball off the pitcher

I think this is fantastic.
To everybody blasting it, consider the rich history of baseball. There have been many different eras, and this game has given us cards from just about every one of them.
We’ve had Moonshot events and every other kind of event, why not a Dead Ball Era? I think it’s genius.
Remember, some people/organizations (Irl or video game) prefer high-scoring and build their teams around that. Others believe in pitching and defense and build their team around that.
Why shouldn’t they have their event, too? There is nothing wrong with honoring a distinct era of baseball in this video game, especially when the game features players of that era.
For those of you who love power and play at Shippett, sit this one out, just like others have sat out the Moonshot and what not.
For me, I could go either way. I may play this Event a lot and I may not play it much, but I think it’s cool that SDS is honoring this era by including it in the game.
You might have a point if this game actually played right. There just isn't enough ball trajectory variations to make this fun or realistic. Contact hitters irl could slap balls around all day. This game however it's nothing but floaters to the outfield or get in on the bunt cheese.
Worst event ever especially considering the way this game plays.
