Who do you all think should have had a signature series card? Or at least some form of higher diamond card?

    My picks:
    Ben Zobrist
    Matt Kemp
    Mookie Betts
    Fred McGriff
    Kenny Lofton
    Jason Giambi
    Alan Trammell
    Eric Davis

    ...who SHOULDNT have had one:
    Garrett Anderson
    Justin Upton
    Tommy John
    Aubrey Huff
    Brandon Phillips
    Russell Martin

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but I honestly don't care that guys like Brandon Phillips get SS, they are fan favorites, (Though, he is not for me personally being a Cardinal fan lol) and then there are cool stories like Tommy John.
If I had to pick someone to get a higher card though, it'd probably be Mookie Betts.

Also fun fact, Brandon Phillips, Garrett Anderson, Tommy John, Justin Upton, Russell Martin all have a higher career WAR then Matt Kemp who is on your "should get one list", only Huff is lower.

    Martin definitely deserved one

I swear I'm not saying this because I have obscenely good stats with him and he has 0 requirement of squaring up the ball to hit it hard, I promise

Zobrist definitely should’ve gotten one. He would’ve been useful for a lot of people’s teams.

He’s the third best player in Rays franchise history, behind Longoria and Crawford. Since we didn’t have Crawford in 19, that means the second best Rays player in the game didn’t get an SS card.

I was looking forward to a SS Orel Hershiser which for some reason never came.

Trammell probably shouldn't have gotten a SS. His best year outside of SB was '87 which is in game.
I guess you could give him a little more speed and maybe a little better defense. But, is there a noticable difference between a 94 and a 95 of the same guy?

Same goes for Eric Davis, 1987 was his best year offensively. A SS card might get a slight speed boost and maybe some fielding, I dont know what metrics they use so I didnt look. But a SS card wouldn't look much different than his 87 AS card.

Mookie? This would suggest that Bryce Harper is also deserving, being of similar age and similar experience

You are 100% wrong on Keith Hernandez. He was one of the best First basemen of the 80's.
His numbers are borderline Hall of Fame. He was also the best defensive First baseman of his generation.

His WAR is also higher than Mattingly's and Giambi's
    Hernandez 60.4
    Mattingly 42.4
    Giambi 50.5
Mex's OBP, OPS and OPS+ are also close (or better) to both of them. Defense is not valued in DD at 1st, but his defense was vital. Mattingly was good until his back gave out and Giambi was a defensive liability at first.
Nobody turned a 3-6-3 better than Hernandez.

Not to mention 2 titles, a batting title (not that big a deal now, but in the 80's it was huge) 11 Gold Gloves and 1 MVP.

Did you just say Keith Hernandez is borderline HOF? I don’t think dude has had 3 HOF seasons.

Giambi in his prime wasn’t that much of a defensive liability and there was a thing called the DH to mitigate that.

His higher career WAR was more about longevity. Top 5 seasons of the Giambi, Mattingly and Hernandez. Keith ain’t even close imo

I can only assume you are a Met fan

I am not a huge Carter fan. I think there are guys who are worse than him who got SS. I took off some of the guys worse.

Side bar Joe was a good player and a great human. Audrey Huff was a marginal player and a horrible human. Why that dude has a card period is beyond me
