Personal Favorites That Were Not Great Lifetime Career Players?

Jim Abbott was my favorite player as a kid. I love that the internet let me see his no hitter. I saved the news paper clippings from it in my notebook that has all his baseball cards. Wish they’d get his rights and put him in The Show. He’d never leave my rotation.

They probably don’t know how to make a model for him in the game.

I’m sure it’s not easy, but I can’t imagine it’s impossible. With today’s tech, probably easier than we’d think.

David Freese (who retired this year), David Eckstein. I always loved Rafael Furcal.
Matt Morris and Mark Mulder on the pitching side. -
I have a completely nonsensical love of Bronson Arroyo based on:
- The high kick.
- A-Rod slapping the ball out of his hand in '04 like a chump.
That's it.

Scott Brosius
Dude was clutch on all those playoff runs and World series games. Batted .314 in the WS as a Yankee (4years --20 games) and was clutch , at least in my mind.
Give me him in the playoffs, in a big at-bat over AFRAUD any day -
Magglio Ordonez and Brandon Inge

Matt Morris and Mark Mulder on the pitching side.I'll go back a little further (I assume that I am older)
Ted Simmons
Chris Carpenter
Jose Oquendo (of course with a secondary of every position)
Al Hrabosky
Tom Herr -
Rajai Davis
-
J.R. Richard, Mark Eichhorn, Gregg Olson, Jose Oquendo, Dickie Thon and Willie McGee in their prime years to name a few.
-
Roy Hobbs
-
Glenn Davis, Billy Hatcher and Eric Anthony. Anthony never lived up to his hype, but would hit some monster HR's from time to time.
Oh yeah, that reminds me of Mike Hampton. Anthony was traded for Hampton and someone else. So throw Hampton, Kile, and Brad Ausmus in the mix. -
Mike Greenwell, Von Hayes, Kevin Mitchell, Lance Parrish, Steve Bedrosian, Willy Hernandez and Oilcan Boyd to name a few. One more Dontrelle Wills.
-
Ron Santo, although his career was arguably very good he does not get the credit.
-
2004 or 2006 Twins SP Johan Santana!
-
Hometown favorites wise:
Rays- Bubba Trammel, Jorge Cantu, Toby Hall
Pirates- Brian Giles, Jack Wilson, Craig Wilson
Dodgers- Paul LaDuca, Mark Grudzielanek -
Chris Sabo, Jose Rijo, Paul Oneil, norm charlton, randy myers, and they should find a way to make a series of cards for pitchers who threw perfect games, then tom browning and his card art should b a picture of him on rooftops at wrigley
-
Paul O’Neil, Bernie Williams, Hojo, Glenn Davis, Bo Jackson, Jose Canseco Al Leiter, Jesse Orosco

I'm an NL West guy and it is a god forsaken tragedy that Larry Walker isn't in the game.
Edit: that wasn't what this thread was supposed to be about at all.
Hopefully Larry Walker is voted into the Hall of Fame next month and SDS gets him a card for 20.

I loved Bill Mueller. Great team player, good hitter. Probably still my favorite position player
