I don’t think they should do any downgrades this season. If players can just opt out doesn’t seems fair to downgrade anyone’s performance this season. Plus, Reducing diamonds or golds at this point in the year seems odd considering we are getting 94 player programs.
I couldn't agree more. Nicely said
Thanks! I think this season should be treated like one of those extra credit tests that can only help your grade but can’t hurt it!

I don't really see those guys going down much. I'm pretty sure they have done the ratings based on three year averages. Kyle Lewis hasn't played much so he could jump easier than Acuna or Arenado dipping.
There is definitely a misconception regarding the three year averages. I’m fairly certain the 3 year average affects mostly the ratings at launch while roster updates are more heavily weighted toward the current season. I could be wrong about that though
-
I wouldn't want to be the one making the decisions on who goes up/down this year. Give them a pay raise lol
-
I know last year they were more heavily influenced on the current year but I can see them this year going back to looking at historical numbers as well.
They noted Stanton stayed gold due to practically no playtime in 2018 despite his hot start (plus 2 missed games vs Philly due to covid).
Same way they bumped DJ due to his great year last year and hot start this year.I think they will hesitate to punish low diamonds for slow starts like someone else said...typically they boost faster than they demote.

Waiting for Rhys Hoskins to go Bronze. He's terrible now. Literally the only thing he can do is walk. He can't hit, he can't hit for power, he can't play defense, and he has no speed. He's got no arm either. Give him offensive stats lower than Teoscar Hernandez, but with 125 Discipline.
Isnt that the perennial MVP candidate Rhys Hoskins we are talking about?

Edwin Diaz to a common???
As bad as he has been that is too far a drop. He will probably drop to a 78 or 79, maybe a 77.
But no more.
Coming Soon a Jared Kelenic FS card to remind Mets fans what they traded away for a broken closer and a deflated 2nd baseman.Cano at least has been heating up, but yeah I'm a Mariners fan and I am incredulous that we won a trade and got a guy like Kellenic who is an absolute stud. He's gonna force his way to the majors this year, have you seen what he is doing to our minor league arms?!

It looks like a one sided trade. Cano will never be what he was due to him being barred from his home chemistry set.
The whole deal hinges on Kelenic's future. But I will be honest with you;
Even if Kelenic is a complete bust, getting out from Cano's last 5 years at $24m per
season alone makes the deal worth it.Cano will flash here and there, but that is it a flash, a mirage of what once was.
All it cost you was a closer that blew a mental gasket as soon as he saw "NY" on his cap. -

You are onto something that I was wondering about. With weekly updates, this is going to be a roller coaster ride.
Will someone get an upgrade from a 3 HR game? Likewise, will a player get down graded because they get lit up or strike out 4 times?
This will lead to rampant speculation with cards jumping in value in real time as one player or another goes off.
It's going to be like the stock bubble where a stock would shoot up in value simply by being mentioned on CNBC.We are in for a wild ride.
I firmly believe a bronze/common level player cough Kyle Lewis cough could see a hefty upgrade with a great performance, but high level diamonds like the ones listed would need at least 2-3 full weeks of bad play before we see even a slight downgrade. Whereas before they would need a month+ before seeing a downgrade.
You coughed! Are you ok?
If Belli and Arenado go down, I might buy them before they go up. -

If Belli and Arenado go down, I might buy them before they go up.I do not think that SDS will intentionally wreck the market by downgrading these 2 cards. It would be a mad house if two of the "Big 7" cards get downgraded.

I dont think you are gonna see many if any big names get downgraded early. Most mentioned in this thread are notorious slow starters.

The fun/crazy part this season a slow start could bury your team.
And a hot start could get you an MVP award. -

That's a very fair assessment. Though I remember Goldschmidt being downgraded fairly early either last year or the season before.
-
Ohtani and Springer could go down. Gary Sanchez may drop too but i would be very surprised if he goes below silver.

Yes, but he had been struggling going back to the previous season. A lot of guys mentioned here had good seasons last year. Some great.

You had me until you said Acuña
He looked very lost the first 5-6 games but he’s coming around now and hopefully keeps trending up.
My vote goes to the Astros top 3 hitters.

Well they suck anyway so that's why I purposely didn't include them.

I'm curious as well. There are a lot of big names not doing well. Cody Bellinger is a good example. He's bummed to a 92 from a 90 with a .160 average and 2 hr. It is Belli and I know he's popular but it seems like that's all that matters is the popularity. Seems like a down grade would be necessary. Also, worried the upgrade will get overlooked due to the monthly cards. I guess I would just like to know how they break this down because it hasn't made sense to me for the last few season. Granted 2020 is wild. So..
