We talk plenty about upgrades, but let's discuss slumping players who got that bad start and could potentially see a downgrade. Some pretty big names here, so I don't see them getting downgraded for a few weeks, but they're worth keeping an eye on.

    Ronald Acuña Jr.
    45 AB
    .222 Avg
    1 HR
    4 RBI
    .692 OPS

Worth noting his first HR came just a few days ago and he has 5 hits in his last 3 games. If he stays on that pace he will be fine, but if he goes back to that awful slump, watch out. 20 Ks on the season to just 5 walks.

    Nolan Arenado
    34 AB
    .235 Avg
    1 HR
    3 RBI
    .631 OPS

This one pains me a little, but Nolan didn't have his first extra base hit until his HR yesterday, which provided 2 of his 3 RBIs. 2 Hits in his last 3 games, one going yard. Benefit here is his K number is very very low, just 4 K's to 4 walks on the season. I believe a lot of his is just bad luck, were talking Good/Good in 19, probably the least likely of the 4 to see a downgrade.

    Cody Bellinger
    44 AB
    .159 Avg
    2 HR
    5 RBIs
    .531 OPS

Worth noting that he has both HRs in his last two games, so he may be heating up, but he only has 2 hits in his last 3 games, both being longdongs. 3 of his 5 RBIs came from those two games as well. 7Ks to 3 walks, so not a huge concern, like Nolan and Acuña I expect him to hear up and get the average up around .270 within the next few games.

    Christian Yelich
    31 AB
    .097 Avg
    1 HR
    3 RBI
    .377 OPS

The biggest contender for a downgrade imo. 2 hits in his last 3 games, but also 6 K's. He's drawn 2 walks to 13 Strikeouts so far this season. If he doesn't hear up this week, expect an attribute downgrade next Friday.

You are onto something that I was wondering about. With weekly updates, this is going to be a roller coaster ride.

Will someone get an upgrade from a 3 HR game? Likewise, will a player get down graded because they get lit up or strike out 4 times?

This will lead to rampant speculation with cards jumping in value in real time as one player or another goes off.
It's going to be like the stock bubble where a stock would shoot up in value simply by being mentioned on CNBC.
Get a highlight or featured on MLB tonight and BOOM!!! The card skyrockets.

We are in for a wild ride.

I firmly believe a bronze/common level player cough Kyle Lewis cough could see a hefty upgrade with a great performance, but high level diamonds like the ones listed would need at least 2-3 full weeks of bad play before we see even a slight downgrade. Whereas before they would need a month+ before seeing a downgrade.

I don’t think they should do any downgrades this season. If players can just opt out doesn’t seems fair to downgrade anyone’s performance this season. Plus, Reducing diamonds or golds at this point in the year seems odd considering we are getting 94 player programs.

Agreed, but the speculation is going to be nuts.
Look at Aaron Judge this past Sunday night. He hits an HR and the price jumps,
he hits a go ahead HR on a perfect release hanger..Boom the Judge market explodes.

I feel we are going to see real time market shifts as players perform well.

If a player is sucking wind this season for an extended period of time, I see no reason to not downgrade them. Why save a player just because he has the option to opt out? If Yelich were to opt out now, then fine, could argue he's hurt. But if he plays poorly for another week or two them opts out, downgrade his [censored].

I fully expect Judge to go to an 89 Friday. Possibly 90 in a few weeks.

You beat me to it. His bat used to keep him in the line up, but he looks lost at the plate this season. Not just terrible swings but his body language speak volumes, he doesn't have a clue.

Common is a possibility to, his defense sucks, so if his offense doesn't pick up at all this year, there's nothing to save his rating.

Let's look at Ohtani. He is a borderline gold at 81 OVR.
He has been lit up like a Christmas tree both starts.
He got roughed up in the first one and had zero control in the second.

He deserves a downgrade, but will he get it? I doubt it.

I think SDS has always been quicker to upgrade rather than downgrade.
With weekly updates, they could fall into the habit of changing ratings just to change a rating and provide us with the newest and latest trends.

As bad as he has been that is too far a drop. He will probably drop to a 78 or 79, maybe a 77.
    But no more.
Coming Soon a Jared Kelenic FS card to remind Mets fans what they traded away for a broken closer and a deflated 2nd baseman.

Waiting for Rhys Hoskins to go Bronze. He's terrible now. Literally the only thing he can do is walk. He can't hit, he can't hit for power, he can't play defense, and he has no speed. He's got no arm either. Give him offensive stats lower than Teoscar Hernandez, but with 125 Discipline.

Lol I think they will likely bump Laureano to diamond when springer goes gold just to keep the troll alive
