If he does come out soon, you should check his WAR first to see if he will even work for you before you get him SA.

Will he get one? Yes.
But it's unlikely the 99 will be prestigable. Collections are (mostly?) done, he's not going to be a POTM award, TA Stage 4 is almost assuredly going to be Finest, and it's extremely unlikely he's another inning boss.

I feel like there’s a lot of for sure 99s that have yet to be released and I’m wondering how they’re gonna do it

It will probably be one of the last drops of the year IMO. He was a WS reward last year so you have to think he won’t be a WS, BR, or inning boss down the road. Too good to be a headliner so late event reward or addition to the ducks on the pond elite tier are about the only spots to release him
He could end of being a final reward for what ever replaces Sig teams

I think it will be like Goose and Jones last year. Got a 90's as early in the year as a boss, their SS didn't hit until the end of the year. Expect Snider, Oswalt, Chipper SS after season is over.

They said at the beginning they wanted other versions of cards to be able to compete. They didn’t want it to end up everyone using signature cards......award cards etc. Quite honestly, his veteran card can hang with any of the 99’s that are already out. Yes one would think he’d get a 99, but who knows.

I do agree TA4 is probably where we will see them, there are still guys like Brett Boone who have yet to get a card so it will probably be 30 cards like Finest or a mix of 99s.

Gotta think he’ll be a BR or Event reward, don’t imagine he’ll be a WS reward again and he was too good to be in a pack.

Do we even need one? His card plays like a 99 as it is. He's easily one of the top 3B cards in the game right now.

There’s Few sure things in mlb the show , 99s of the most popular players in the game they have rights to Later in the year is one of them don’t worry we will see 99 Chipper he will be expensive and sought after .
