Why not just try to get better?
-
Usually when I get into this situation, and it becomes clear after a few extra step-step off cycles that my opponent is going to continue, I actually set the stopwatch on my phone to see how long he will keep it up.
While I take the point made about pitching with slide step, and I do alternately slide step, step off, throw over, etc, I am not going to just concede second base.
-
I just wanted to add that the people doing this usually can't hit a slide step for some reason

A while ago I was in a deep BR run, and I played a free swinging guy who fit the profile you just described. I struck his Mondesi out with an offspeed pitch, since he was sitting heat all the way, and of course he reached 1st on a passed ball.
Then the game within the game started. I was already annoyed that he reached on a K, and knew he was stealing at some point. So he took a step every single time and I threw it over to 1st every single time. Then he messaged me all angry saying "PITCH THE BALL SMH", which I replied to with saying "yeah I will once you stop taking that step". I'm not lying, this sequence continued for about 15 minutes before my pitcher decided to throw it behind the 1B on the 1000th pickoff move, giving him second base.
Either way my point is this:
The guy takes an extra step, I react to that by not pitching the ball but attempt a pickoff move. After this keeps going, he gets angry with me, as if I'm the toxic player in this situation? So basically he wants me to just give up second base to him. I get really annoyed with people like this.Sure, I won't do this every single time someone takes a lead. But if I notice you're one of those guys, I most definitely will. Want me to stop throwing over? Stop taking an extra step and stop blaming me. It's that simple.
Doesn’t picking off drain the pitcher’s energy? Correct me if I’m wrong but this is why I almost never pick off

I think it does yes, but it's very negligible and I'm okay with that opposed to just giving him second base.

Yes, but stepping off does not.

SDS should simply remove the ability to take an extra step in H2H. It adds nothing but frustration to the experience.
Maybe the size of a baserunnner’s lead could be related to his stealing attribute?

No. They need to fix running back on pick offs. Stealing is a part of baseball. Leads are a part of baseball. Having the camera shift during a pitch letting you know it’s a pitch out and hitting one button to safely run back to first base and score your free ball isnt BASEBALL. People aren’t going to stop sending the runner when they have the ability to get him back to first base every single time and only put themselves in a better count at the plate.
People keep ignoring the fact the devs said they fixed it but did absolutely nothing to fix it. Now nobody talks about it, and it can get looked at again 6 years from now.

I believe they said they would fix running back after a pitch-out, which is why runners slip and fall if you try to send them back during a steal attempt.

Ya do know you can quick pitch and have a good catcher to combat the extra steps lol like the toxic bunch is the group thinking waaaaa its not fair he gets to take a extra step off first base boohoo

Yes we know but thanks for the input. Also, we don't cry about the extra step, they cry about the pickoff attempts as a result to those steps.

I love it when my opponent leads off. I feel like i have very high success rate of picking off my opponent. What usually works for me is I select my pitch and wait as long as possible before the game auto pitches, then throw over to 1st base. I’ve had numerous free outs this way.
Just this past weekend in my 12-0 run, I picked this guy off twice cause he kept leading off and the last out of the game was him getting picked off! Oh I absolutely loved it! Ofc he messaged me saying I was too scared to pitch lmao.
