Wired internet affect offline gameplay

Does anyone with a savy tech mind know if hard wiring internet to the playstation will have a positive affect on offline play vs using wifi? Seems like I have input lag on swing timing the last few days and I am on wifi. Will hardwire for sure if it helps. Any suggestions or feedback would be great!

I'm not tech savvy at all, but I tried hardwiring a few days ago and immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in my connection

I have an Ethernet connection from my modem to the ps4 and lost a game today to disconnection so it’s quite the crapshoot

I don’t know why? Interference in the cable because it was traveling the length of a long room? But for the past couple of years, my wifi is a steadier connection than wired. Never drops on WiFi. Drops about every hour or so if wired.

People usually neglect their Ethernet cables tbh. I know I did. Would have all these just laying around somewhere and use them for years. A good, new cable can make a world of difference.

I play wired with everything to include my controllers. My opinion is that it is far better. I've never dropped a connection or had major lag.

Btw just had a buddy constantly get dropped from Destiny, while wired, like they did on WiFi. After some potato internet ribbing we asked if he changed his ps4 settings to Ethernet. Of course it was and now the connection drops are no more. Definitely change the cable to a CAT6.

So the issue was in the settings?

Yep...you have to manually change the settings to lan unless the wifi password is changed. The system will automatically connect to WiFi once it’s set unless it can’t connect and even then will try to connect to WiFi.
