Serious Question: What's the point of different stats for pitchers if all of their pitches end up over the middle of the plate, despite perfect inputs on multiple modes?
-
This has been my biggest frustration with the game this year is pitching, they never call pitches that are on the corners strikes and perfect input means it’s less of a crapshoot where the ball ends up but still a crapshoot.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, perfect input should always result in the pitch going where it was put, the only variable should be the ease or difficulty of perfect input. A pitcher with excellent control should have an easier meter or analog then a pitcher with bad control and that should be the only thing that determines where a pitch goes. If perfect input is not achieved I understand but if it is that pitch [censored] well better go where I put it. -

A 125 may as well be a 75 if he can't place pitches despite high numerical ranking.
Can SDS explain within the context of the game what I am failing to do consistently to achieve a desired pitching result
I hit corners all day.

I’m ok with that sim aspect, but otherwise I totally agree with you ....

On another note, SDS, common, tone the hitting down, it’s so arcady right now, not even close to feeling like a sim baseball game... TONE the hitting down !!

What pitchers do you use and what is your key to success?

Pitching has been one of the biggest problems with this gm since day one!! Hopefully we get at least one more patch dedicated to pitching.
I think that would help balance the gm out. IMO -

It depends if they need to keep your opponent engaged and from quitting....its like playing with your younger sibling and u occasionally got to give em something so they dont throw a tantrum and quit

You must be the player determined to be at a disadvantage in most of your matchups. Lol jk. I'm calling sarcasm because..
1.) Hitting the corners is difficult
2.) If you hit the corner the chances of the umpire calling it are slim to none...and slim just died.

So what should be expected on perfect inputs on analog and pulse?

Lol is it even possible to get a “perfect” input on analog? All I ever get is “good” even when I hit the middle of the yellow on the downswing and land the ball in the circle on the upswing

I have had different experiences.

The fact that I’m having good control with these common pitchers in this event makes me think they’ve deliberately turned down some sort pitcher control slider in the other game play modes.

My advice when it comes to input is expect nothing. The game plays like bingo...you just have to be patient and wait for your number to be called.

It's a simple meter. Anyone who plays the game even somewhat competitively will get good input more often than not. So pitching with a silver or above would result on dotting pitches all game . That's not realistic.
I know this is an unpopular opinion. But there has to be "RNG" as the kids say. There has to be. Because otherwise it's arcade and no attributes matter besides speed ,velocity, break and the such.
Just take a look at NBA 2K. Everyone whined about input should matter more, more more. The timing of my shot should be by far the most determining factor if it goes in. So they made it that way. And now people are shooting plus 70%! I find it almost unplayable honestly. It's more arcade than ever.
Everyone wants this to be a baseball sim, and more realistic. But that's not what we would get. Arcade arcade arcade.

I hear you, as the meter currently exists. What I am saying is the meter or analog should be based offa pitchers accuracy and skill ratings. And as the pitcher gets fatigued the meter or analog gets more difficult. So a pitcher with excellent control has an easier input for perfect and down the list as the control ratings go down and again fatigue will have an impact as the game goes on. That would solve any issues of random outcomes.

It seems to me that by far, the community generally wants user input to matter more, not more sim “realism”.
You’re right in a sense though. It almost should be two different games.

What we want is a game where we choose a spot down and away with a fresh pitcher and quality input doesn’t result in middle/middle location. Good/good should should give us better action on the pitch that results in it staying in the zone longer before dropping off the table. Alah, it looks middl/middle before it disappears. This won’t happen because the breaks are baked in, or artificially created. They should invite pitchers to their MOCAP studio where they can set up a special ball, of proper weight and size, with sensors that track velocity and trajectory of that pitchers pitches. Plus slow motion cameras from multiple angles. Then we wouldn’t have a player with one of the best curve in the game, serving tators on that pitch because it breaks too soon and not violently enough. Even a warm up throw would break better. Then set it up that as the pitcher gets tired and into late yellow/red they start to miss up. Not this at any given time your great input pitch arbitrarily goes middle/middle. Plus, all these rng hitting input need to be removed from pvp and make it zone only.

Just aim right down the middle, at least then you know why it went there. But then when you get perfect release it'll hit the corner because it ain't going where you aim
