What Monitor Are You Playing On?

Many people ask which monitors to buy or ask for recommendations. I'm curious what you folks are playing on if indeed, you are playing on a monitor.

Got a Benq RL2755. Got it about midway through '17.
Wouldn't say it's made me better, if your PCI placement is [censored], it'll still be [censored] using a monitor. At least mine is. -

If you're planning on buying one and can wait to hear specs on the PS5, I would. The 4 only supports up to 60 mhz refresh anything more is overkill on a monitor that isn't used for PC gaming. I don't know if the 5 will be any higher or not.

I got a BenQ. Can't remember the model off the top of my head but it's 1ms response and most importantly, 10ms input lag.
And he's right, it won't make your PCI placement better, but the input will be more accurate. Also, it'll give you more time to react and really help you recognize pitches and in turn, put together better ABs and be more successful.

I have an asus, but it seems like almost every top player uses Benq

I use a acer 270h I'm literally early on everything now and i can actually see the seams on the ball. With the tv I was playing on all I seen was a blur. Looks like most top players use a benq.

I played a friendly yesterday on legend and lost 5-1 and the biggest issue I felt was recognition and the fact that the game reacted that fraction slower than I did, or that's how it felt. I could improve a lot as well. There's no denying that, but I feel like I'm that little bit behind in reaction and recognition. I definitely can't see the seams on the ball. Lol.
Like I said, been doing my research but I'm also genuinely curious as to what folks use in their gaming experience.
Btw, I'm not surprised that the Benq has been mentioned. A number of their monitors rate very highly.

I'm sure they're are more great monitors out there but it's safe to go BenQ and know you're getting quality.
I would not recommend 2nd hand though (I mean unless you know the guy and you know he hardly touched the thing.
But given that the PS5 comes out, assuming you intend on scooping that up, you'll want to invest in the highest quality monitor (1 Ms 144hz, blah, blah, blah). That's also assuming the PS5 will run that high, but I think that's a safe assumption, plus they're not much more expensive in comparison and worth every penny. -
I got my AOC G2460PF for $45 used from a pawn shop. 1ms, 144hz, etc. No issues at all.

Anything less 144 Hz would seem like a mistake if the computing power being bandied about is legitimate. Example:
Bespoke 8-core AMD chipset (based on third-generation Ryzen architecture and with Navi GPU)
SSD storage system (Rumoured to be 2TB - just that at the moment - rumour)
Backwards compatibility with PS4 games and PSVR hardware (possibly all PlayStation game versions)
3D audio
4 and 8K TV supportIt's even been reported that the custom SSD will be twice as fast as the next Xbox and that both will support ray tracing (better lighting effects). Apparently this will cause some issues for game developers because while the GPU on the Xbox is slightly more powerful, the slower SSD will create a bottleneck causing developers to have to rewrite games between platforms. That's just a rumour as well but an interesting one considering that SDS will be making a game for both platforms in the next iteration.
Maybe someone from SDS could shed some light on that, especially since game developers already have their hands on the PS5 devkit.
Anyway, I digress. Yes, I would like to "future proof" my next monitor if at all possible.

Interesting rumour running around about launch titles for the PS5, as well, which are slated for release the holiday season 2020, along with the console. One of the rumoured "launch" games... MLB The Show 21.

Well since 4k at 60hz is pretty tough to reach right now, especially for console, I wouldn't expect anything close to that for 8k within the next 2 to 3 years. Hopefully these new consoles can do something close to 60hz at 4k. Honestly I am drifting back towards PC again. Just ordered me a whole bunch of stuff for a new build. The whole Ryzen gen 3 and AMD being back in the game has me catching the fever again.

Considering that the overwhelming majority of console people play on TV's with 60hz panels and considering that in order to go above 60hz requires a different type of cable / input jack than most TV's have it's highly unlikely that anything above 60hz will be the norm for next gen, sure high refresh could be possible but not normal.

I have an Asus VG245h but actually enjoy playing on my Samsung 50” tv more. The difference in lag input is 10ms so it’s not that big of a deal.

Considering there is already footage of Gran Turismo running at 120hz, 8k, I think you'll be a little surprised at what will run on the next-gen console.
EA's head of production has publicly stated that these consoles will blow people's minds, even going as far as saying that they are so mindblowing, that they will open up the doors to different genres of games.
Another reason I'm looking for a reasonably future proof monitor.
