Inflation of market

And what would you suggest to fix that?
With TA3 dropping, there is obviously more demand for golds in order for exchanges, and Econ 101 says more demand = higher prices. It's not some people manipulating the market to make a profit.
I’m doing it to make a profit. Seeings that I really don’t care about TA I’m taking advantage of Market right now.

As i said many won’t agree with me but if I had to guess many people who are of superior ability in game are many who have inflated the market to earn more stubs when the lesser players who would need to do exchanges more can’t because the cost is high.
Flawed logic, I suck at the game and I've got a lot riding on this TA 3. I can do showdown after a few tries. I'll never be above 600 player though. I've been stuck in the 500's for awhile. I'm not mad about it, I enjoy the game. Its just simple supply and demand. A lot of us knew that prices would go up when the next stage drops. We bought low and plan to sell hi.

Being honest, I buy them all year. When POTM exchanges cause a rush, sell stacks of silver and bronze. Reinvest them right back.
Just plan ahead more next time.
And are u at 100 percent with all teams? If so is your purpose just to take stubs of the players not as good? I am just wondering. Not stating it’s true just wondering
Yes. My intent is to take stubs from the people that don't play the market properly.
Buying a gold 81 at 1025 is smart. I can exchange it out and the fool that sold it to me made less than if they quick sold it.
Free market is not where I do charity work. That's at school, church and other areas of my local community. Not in a virtual marketplace.

Wow this thread is something. No one is forcing you to buy these cards. No one is taking anyone’s stubs. There are multiple ways to earn ta points. You can load up your squad with one team and grind innings against the cpu, you can do m2o. Also we’ve known about the different stages of team affinity since the game dropped. You could have easily pick up these cards over the last few weeks when prices were lower, so that’s on you.
As other posters have stated buyers dictate the market. Sellers can set prices how they choose but it’s up to the buyers to determine if that price is what they’re willing to pay. An item is only as valuable as what someone is willing to pay for it. If you think the prices are too high then you don’t have to buy. This is not market manipulation in any way. This is pretty much Econ 101
-
What is even worse is OP admits to playing what is basically 4 games and complains about prices. If you play each of those games on All Star even odds are in your favor you get at least 1 silver. Like sorry that I can win my showdowns and get great pulls this year allowing me to flip cards for a profit at your expense. Should we make every card worth the same amount of stubs or would OP prefer everyone gets a free trout since they are clearly against capitalism
-
I admit I invested in alot of silver players in order to do some of the exchanges for the cards I really wanted. The ones that didn’t, I was gonna sell off and at the very least, try to break even. So far, nothing looks interesting to me except maybe Brett so yeah I’m gonna profit a ton. I’m sitting on 800 78/79 cards, not to mention i have a few dozen other silver/gold cards.
-
I was busy buying up 72s for 40 stubs each when they were so low. People had plenty of time to get the cards at low prices, and everyone knew this was coming.

But they NERFed Showdowns.

I don’t waste my time knowing I will fail. I lost to 1st mini boss in 4th inning and haven’t gone back.

Then I'm not quite sure what your point is. They made Showdowns really easy.

Not really easy for everyone and I’m sure some people agree with me.

Just a big LOL @taking stubs from the less fortunate.
-
@nymets1987 said in Inflation of market:
In order for the cost to go up people are setting it at that cost. Seems they are manipulating the market to benefit them knowing others of weaker ability will need it. I cannot complete a showdown so it’s easier grinding or exchanges for me. More people will need so some are setting costs higher than earlier last week.
You know you can play March to October for free right? Doesnt take long to complete a season and counts towards TA.

Your point is illogical. The buyers set the market not the sellers. I could post a card for 5000 doesnt mean anyone has to buy it and if they don't I have to lower my price if I want to sell it. Buyers jamming on the "buy now" button is what skyrockets the prices.

I steal stubs from the poor, like the Sheriff of MLB.

The problem here is you have no point... it’s not that people aren’t agreeing with you. You are totally, completely, 100% dead wrong with your original post. So people can’t agree with you. You obviously have no clue when it comes to how this game works. This has absolutely nothing to do with sellers and everything to do with buyers.
You with your shallow minded view that everyone else is holding you back is flat out ridiculous! If you can’t play the game well (which some of us can’t) you should be looking forward to TA3 to make yourself some serious stubs. Instead of complaining about something that you couldn’t be more wrong about. You could have been preparing to double and triple the stubs you had in a setting that doesn’t involve skill. YOU missed the boat. Instead of listening to literally everyone in this thread you’ll continue to cry foul, and how things just aren’t “Fair”
You could have easily doubled or tripled your stubs today. BUUUUT just like you have absolutely no clue about what you are talking about, you also have no clue how to play. Instead of telling people that they are wrong, open your mind just a bit and once card values come down buy some up and get ready to sell during the TA4 release... It’s not hard. -

My opinion is it’s disappointing that some people who are at 100 percent and most likely will get all of the stage 3 TAs still feel the need to have 500k stubs and inflate the market. Some may use just for exchanges and now the cost is higher than a few days ago.
It's obvious you've dug a line in the sand, you've made your up mind that it's a bunch of faceless people manipulating the market. If that is the mindset you want, by all means, but I think I've laid out a pretty good argument on what is really happening.
Again u r a Prestige 67 player while I am at Diamond 83. I am sure u r far superior to me as I have defeated open showdown ever. In my case I will prob need to use exchanges while u can have 40 TA points in 2 hours.
So because you aren't good at the game other people should have to take the longer route and just hand you cards for cheap so you can do it the easy way? Not how things work
No where did I say that but again I don’t see why a card like Robles has to double
Let me say it again the BUYERS cause the price to go up because people that want to do exchanges when the program drops go on and hit buy now which cause the price of the card to go up. Then the price slowly goes back down as leople put in sell orders. So therefore the price goes back down because of the SELLERS. Noone is gonna undercut the last sell order by a couple hundred on a silver just to be nice.
Prices are set by the seller not the buyer. The buyer will buy what’s available. Again if you are someone who will acquire TA through showdowns what do you gain by having 500k stubs? You will have 30 players right there 97-99.
A couple things. First, definitely sucks for those who aren't good at showdown because it is the most significant reward system for TA. Second, I'd recommend MTO over filling a lineup and grinding 3 DD games vs. CPU if you want reward points. Even if you did it on Rookie to guarantee you can win the WS you'll end up with 40 points or so and should take 6 hours or so (vs. only getting 20 pts in 6 hours through DD).
Now into the market stuff, sellers initially set prices, but buyers will dictate the final price. i.e. if all pizza joints charged $60 per pizza and their restaurant is full, they're gonna keep charging $60 per pizza. But if no one shows up, they'll start lowering their prices until their restaurant fills up. Buyers determine the supply/demand equilibrium.
Lastly, a different angle because this hasn't been discussed, but another driver of prices is the easy access to stubs. SDS has shifted the past couple years to giving out far more in terms of rewards - packs, stubs, sellable diamond cards. As a result, everyone on average has far more disposable stubs. When the community is wealthier, they're far more willing to spend their stubs more liberally and that in turn drives up prices. Using the Meadows example from earlier, more people, including average joes like yourself, are willing to pay more for those cards for exchanges because they have more stubs. That in turn leads to higher prices.

Thank you for this post I agree with it all. Only thing is I personally find MTO very boring.
