How Long Before Most Batters Are Switch Hitters?

I think that versatility will become more widespread in future generations of baseball players who aren't born yet. So much has been put into specialized roles (mainly specializing in home runs on offense and higher velocity in pitching) over the past 20 years (ie, fewer 5 tool players putting up big stolen base numbers, and finesse pitchers finding it difficult to make it to starting rotations), it could take a long time. However, it seems like the percentage of young switch hitters is higher than those found in older hitters. I'm thinking it could be at least another 50 years.

Yeah but even though there are more switch hitters, they’re not Chipper Jones who had pop from both sides of the plate.

The fact that you can count on one hand elite switch hitters that could do it well from both sides tells you that probably won't happen.

I’ve once had Chipper Jones step up to the plate and even he was no Chipper Jones who had pop from both sides of the plate. Haha

Baseball is cyclical, aroldis came on the scene and no one could touch the velo,so teams stacked guys like that and got the ones they had to max effort it, 3 years after hitters were smacking 100mph pitches, soon every hitter will be able to consistently adjust to the speed.
and those 100mph guys will be average instead of overpowering, when that happens teams will start stacking high break/ control guys ( even if low to mid 90s) to regain that advantage......and the cycle continues. -
There will never be a time when all hitters are switch hitters. Some left handed hitters have better splits against lefties and vice versa. There are a number of guys who weren't big time power hitters who were successful at switch hitting like JRoll.. Jose Reyes.. Luis Castillo. But as a guy posted above very few switch hitters have good pop from both sides like Chipper did. If switch hitting was something all players could do successfully because of the obvious advantages of switching hitting than they would all be switch hitters .. won't happen.

I digress that there are more like Chipper just taking it from 2000 and on. Lance Berkman and Carlos Beltran both had pop from both sides. But like I said.. that's a select group
