Because he rejected the notion that his likeness is someone else's to lease when he was a player. He's probably more likely to license his name and likeness now that he's retired and doesn't seem to have so much anger and resentment driving him.

Because he doesn't want to. He doesn't really need a better reason.

Well thanks for killing the fun

He's right. Barry Bonds holds the rights to his own name, and until he wants to sell them or license SDS for usage, he won't be in the game.

Someone should ask him nicely if he would let SDS use his likeness. If it’s a monetary issue, I would be willing to donate 50,000 stubs to get him onboard.

Bonds has never wanted to be in the MLBPA and I dont know of too many games that has ever had his proper name in it. My guess now is that he doesnt want to associate with mlb over the not getting into the hall of fame.

Just a guess though. Bonds has always been a bit of a [censored] so I'm sure that might be part of it too. Doubt he needs the money either

Random, but All Star Baseball 2002,
which I believe Jeter on the cover, was the last game he was in lol

He should just be elected into the baseball Hall of Fame, where he deserves to be anyway. That way, his name and appearance can be used for a limited amount of time.

Roids users will never get in, it's just the way it works. I don't agree with it, but here we are.

Any theories as to why Bonds doesn’t want to be in any baseball games? I know he wasn’t part of the licensing agreement back in his playing days but what would be the negative of being in the most popular baseball game out now? Any thoughts?

He probably thinks he can get more money and more input with his player...who knows what the contract entails too. Same thing with Bill Belichick on Madden.

Mike Mussina got in. He is an admitted roid user.

I for one am glad he's not in the game. Dude is just an asshole. His whole approach to PEDs was shameful. He's a total egomaniac that cared only about himself and numbers, never was a team guy.
Anyway, I could go on and on but it's not worth the time.

    Unpopular opinion......

There was a time when roid users (will use that word generically in this post) were not penalized. Joe Torre wrote a book (Yankee Years - I recommend reading it if you are into behind the scenes stuff) in which he wrote a chapter about roid usage. MLB executives were pretty much ignoring the usage because baseball was becoming profitable again (MLB was somewhat in shambles after the 1994 strike, the homerun race of 1998 got fans interested again). They even did a study about the “benefits” of roid usage. Needless to say, this backfired rather badly.

I am a big proponent of Pete Rose being in the Hall of Fame. My argument was that he didn’t cheat as a player and his accomplishments were as a player. That said, unlike roid usage 20 years ago, there was a rule against gambling.

TL;DR Roid users didn’t break any rules because at the time there wasn’t a rule to break in the first place.
