If you are struggling with hitting the fastball (always late), you need to play on a monitor.

This is honestly what I believe. And I find it utterly ridiculous that we should have to buy a gaming monitor in order to play a game. So instead I just take my losses and move on.

Yup! I work at a desk on a monitor all day, the last thing I want to do is do that at night too. I will continue on my 55", on my couch, in my cold basement.

Interesting. I’m older than you and the eyes are starting to go. Plus, I play on a big older tv. I can’t time any decent fastball. Played last night against Graterol and had no chance. 97-plus fastballs or 95-plus sinkers and I got nothing. Either I’m late or I have to swing as the pitch is released and I can’t place the PCI (or lay off bad pitches). And Graterol had like a 20-plus speed difference last night on his offspeed (maybe I was facing a good pitching player).

Do you think it has anything at all to do with your reactions, or more to do with the AI deciding you are going to strike out? I've been in the very same situations with opponents that just keep throwing those high, but in the strikezone, 98+ fastballs. I actually place the PCI exactly where he throws them and still get the same nonsense animation. It's not your reactions it's the AI just determining you aren't going to hit the ball. Sad, but true.

So I have noticed a sort of a hiccup when trying to catch up to some fastballs. I’m not talking about the hiccup immediately after swinging that happens from time to time, this is something different. It’s hard to explain. It’s like when trying to catch up to a high fastball, I’ll push the stick up and it doesn’t go up right away. Like otherwise, I’d be able to reach it except for this hiccup. Maybe it’s lag, maybe it’s just my perception but I have noticed this from time to time.

I'm old, too. 56 this year. I use reading glasses and a gaming monitor. Helps a lot...

Reading glasses while you play? Do you sit close?

Try gunnar glasses, made specifically for gaming or computer use.

This is true. No other PS4 game requires a monitor

Not true.. Call of Duty is a totally different game on a monitor

I feel I can catch up to fastballs better on other views. For some reason, I am still using SZ but I should probably change.

Way too close!!! I use the same monitor for work, so the same distance for Excel, Outlook, etc. The glasses are just 1.25, so not very strong.

Nice to see I am not the only old fart playing (51). I love the game and was having the issue with hitting on the big screen. So I switched to a monitor and it is night and day now. Still get frustrated but much less than on the big screen TV. Plus I also switched how I was placing my PCI and that too has made a difference. Long live the old dudes playing video games.
