Why is the Astros team rating so good this year?
-
Pettiness, perhaps. Regardless, needs to be said.
Houston Astros should be, hands down, the lowest rated team in this years edition of the show.
They cheated as a team and should not be represented as they are in The Show 2020.
I completely realize it’s a only video game, but one based off reality. So, until that team of cheaters proves they actually have the skill they claim they do, they should not be rewarded for cheating, even in a video game. Sets a bad precedent.
Case in point. When I am playing, and the team I am playing against is the Houston Cheatros, I really don’t want to even bother. Their cheating has removed an enjoyable facet of the game for me, simply more collateral damage from their need to cheat and cheapen the entire sport this game is based on.
This of course goes for any team that cheats, the Cheatros are only the latest offenders.
Ok, so flame away, BUT if you are going to try justify and explain away the cheating, please save it.
They need to give back the VIP award and championship trophy, admit they cheated, admit they needed to cheat to win (obviously), take their licks and suck it up. It’s not like it’s not deserved contempt they have earned.

Lol, yes the Astros cheated, and yes they deserve all the jesting they get.
But if you don't think they're a good team, you are kidding yourself.
First of all, you got Verlander and Greinke, two great pitchers.
And if you don't think Altuve/Bregman/Springer/Yordan/Correa are good hitters, idk what to tell you. They may not have an ideal attitude/how they present themselves, but there is no denying they have talent.
Not to mention Brantley and next on the scene guy in Kyle Tucker.
Like, I 100% get the hate on the Stros, they deserve it, but let's not pretend those guys are suddenly going to be bad now. That's an absolutely silly take.

Because they have a team full of stars and will probably win the World Series.

And greinke isn’t even rated as high as he should be in my opinion, he’s the most underrated pitcher on that team

Obviously the Astros have good players, so I’m not sure how their rating is supposed to change based on the controversy.
That said, I do think having a 2017 post season Springer card is in poor taste. I’m not sure what they were thinking there.

Relax bernie bro. The astros are phenomenal with or without a garbage can. They had one of the best pitching rotations/bullpen in the league.
-
It’s hard to gauge how good some of them are when they’ve played the majority of their careers knowing what pitch is coming. Bregman started like 1 for 40 until they taught him how to trash can. These guys certainly aren’t the future MVPs and WS home run record holders they’re portrayed as lmao

My favorite team nearly lost a World Series to the Astros. I would have been bitter for the rest of my life if the Nats had lost Game 7 AND Houston was subsequently exposed for cheating. But let’s not kid ourselves, the Astros are still a really good team, which makes it even dumber that they cheated.

Imagine if the astros held r2 between pitches or didn't quit during a freeze off. Would they be considered cheaters? I don't think so

...[censored] Houston!

Electronic sign stealing has been going on since the 80s. Sign stealing via telescope and camera Lens was happening well before that, into the 50’s. Astros are just the latest one to get caught. It’s fine to be critical of cheating, but it’s simply inaccurate to act like the Astros invented some new sin unknown to man. How many teams were using secret cameras that same Year? 5? 15? All? It was hilarious hearing red sox talk about the Astros when they themselves were cheating with Apple watches recently.
The other cheaters will never admit it, and if asked about the Astros they will dutifully waggle their finger at them and act indignant.
I know this will get no traction here. Sorry, I just can’t stand the hypocrisy of things like this and NCAA “recruiting”.
(Disclaimer: I hate the Astros. No fan relationship. Their ratings are about right, it’s a dominant team with or without trash cans)
