Probably going to be judge but to be honest, if Harper or Griffey have great stats versus a right I may choose them for a bench bat. After like a day or two, I don't anticipate anything but low diamonds on my squad.

Mariano seems like he will be one of those cards that everyone wants and is definitely a good move for sds but how effective will he be? Obviously in real life his cutter is insane and almost unhittable. But that is basically all he threw. If they follow his actual repertoire he would have a cutter, 2 seam, and 4 seam. Depending on how the game plays next year he could end up being a disappointment. I think that pitch mix in this years game would get crushed. Maybe if they make the 2 seam a sinker that really runs and you have cover both sides of the plate he will be tough but without something off speed he might be pretty easy to read.
In this years game I love kenley and his cutter is really good but if you take away his slider I think he gets killed. I feel like that is the pitch that keeps people off balance.

If you know how to use the cutter in the show, you people can’t touch it. Hoffman’s cutter and Davis’ cutter are very effective

Davis isn’t that special Both those guys have a offspeed pitch to keep you honest

Completely agree with both of these statements. Davis’ control is below stats and people mash off him. That said, his cutter has probably been his most effective non-off speed pitch for me.

It’s an online thing; offline they react correctly, but offline the L1 is dangerous, especially when you hit a double with a slow guy on second

Did they say all inning rewards will have the prestige option? If so, maybe the prestige would add a quirk instead of overall points.

To me the difference between Prime and SS is:

PRIME = Best 2-3 consecutive years. Ripken could be years 89-91
SS = Best 3 years over their entire career. Ripken could be years 83,84 and 91.

For alot of other players these may be the same, so they may not get both cards.

The Award cards will be single season cards, like hardware were in '19, nothing really new there.

I looked at the stream again and paused at the section where it showed the rotation of a RS squad (when they were talking about doing away with pitcher roulette). Still shows 5 SP and 7 RP.

There is definitely a DH spot on the lineup screen, so that will account for something...but with a DH there will be significantly less need to pinch hit for most games.

That's not a bad flashback choice - 2016 Hardware Corey Seager. I'd imagine it would be a low diamond. And, yes, his swing was king in The Show 16. Many people had their CAP set with his swing.

From what I counted we had 134 Flashbacks/legends in 19. Adding the 23 if all return from last year we would get 157. I am sure we will lose a few.

Yeah I wonder if quitting will knock your energy a certain amount by default. Otherwise we may see an uptick in quitting

Yea like if you win via a quit and only play 3 innnings, do you get your energy levels filled as if you played a full game? @Victor_SDS would you know?

The players who DID NOT play in that game would have some of their energy refilled, no matter how long the game goes.

They are gonna go for big stubs with the prestige in play.

That’s good then. I hope I can get good stubs out of one of them and then use them to try to work on collections 🙂

Way too many sig cards with every or most attributes over cap. These kind of immortals should be rare and shouldn’t have 3-4 options at every position. It makes for no decision making.

Yeah but if we have all these cards in the Helton range of overall, the special players (Griffey, Babe, Mantle, etc.) are going to be the only cards used. You can’t have lineup diversity without juiced cards that weren’t necessarily the best players of all time. In 18 every lineup consisted of Immortals. You couldn’t compete without them. In 19, while the only cards used were SS and Finest, you still got a wide variety of different player cards that were used. They are trying to mix up card types this year while still having diversity of players. Which is good. Many of even the most detonated MLB the show players quit playing 18 in July because of the immortals

Yea that’s a good point. Honestly I played the life out of 18 til the end and you know what’s funny. I didn’t have a single immortal. I couldn’t stomach the offline grinds.

I do see what you are saying. It just seems like so many really cool cards go to waste because you have to keep up. Trienen for example was really beast for me then those huge pcis came into play and he became useless.

In my search for more variety though I can see how you are describing it backfiring

I do not think you can sell the Prestige cards.

The issue I believe was there were events that had like no Diamonds allowed, and a player would go Diamond on the update during the Event and you'd see Diamonds and people would leave them in their event lineup. Yea I’ve heard that theory, but not from anyone who works for SDS.

And even if that is the reason; the answer is to ensure that only lineups that meet the criteria can register. The answer isn’t to turn this feature off.

You are right, they have ignored the question altogether as far as I remember. We made a big stink about it when it happened in 18 and that has been the prevailing theory. I basically stopped playing events in 18 anyway, stubs were so easy to make with souvenirs that I didnt need to play events.

Don't know how they would do that because arent the rewards for Showdown non-sellable?

You still earn some XP and Stubs for each step in the Showdown Path. They only showed the free starter Showdown and the stub rewards were minimal. I assume that the ones that have entry fees will reward more stubs for each step.

Ahhh. But I doubt this mode will be a 'stub cow' for people.

You may get and extra 1-2K in stubs, but chances are you'll either break even if you'll get an extra 200-500 in stubs.
