    RTTS frozen at start of season “play next appearance”

    You can start a new career with the same ballplayer. You lose the career, but not the progress on the player's abilities and archetype.

    There are ballplayers and career files. Theoretically, you can load any ballplayer in any career file, as long as they are position compatible. For example, you can start a position player career with a shortstop, then later continue that career with a catcher.
    To change the current ballplayer, from the main menu, go top-left into your profile. Then click Manage and select the ballplayer you want.
    Back at the main menu, do not click on RTTS, use the button to load a career file.

    My guess is that you were trying to load the shortstop career with your pitcher ballplayer. So, first select the shortstop, then load the career file.

    On a side note: what kind of pitcher did you create and how far have you played with him? In a separate thread, I described an issue I encountered with my starting pitcher, whose career file gets switched to position player after 3 games in the majors.

    Ummmmm, dumb question, but how are you creating a new career with the same person?

    At the main menu, select RTTS and press the button for More Options (X on XBox). Select START NEW and then choose the ballplayer you want to play with. You can select an existing ballplayer or create a new one.

  • [BUG] Ballplayer conflict
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    I started a career as a second baseman, played a season.
    Next, I created a new ballplayer, this time a starting pitcher. I am now in August, and my next game I'm to play DH! Instead of playing the game at DH with my pitcher, I closed the app. Upon restart, loading the season no longer works; it displays an error with the following message:

    HEADS UP! BALLPLAYER CONFLICT!
    You are about to load a ballplayer into a Road to the Show save that has a different position. To continue using this save file, please create a new ballplayer or change to one that matches.

    I can resume this save file with my second baseman, but not with the pitcher. And the second baseman ballplayer actually plays as DH/LF in this career!

  • rtts no perk for second position in the show 22
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    What you call the "main perk" is actually called "archetype". The archetypes are for specific players and not interchangeable.
    If you created a pitcher, you chose the type of pitcher you wanted when you created him. If you chose "Velocity", then you get velocity related archetypes (Filthy Cheese and Painted Cheese).

    When you create a position player, you choose either Power, Contact or Fielding. Each of these would give you a different pair of archetypes.
    Finally, if you create a two-way player, you choose a type of pitcher, for when you pitch, and a type of position player, when you bat. For example, if you chose Velocity pitching and Power hitting, your archetype is Cheesy Slugger.

    In case you don't know, the names in archetypes come from the traits:
    Velocity = Cheese
    Break = Filth
    Control = Paint

    Power = Slugger
    Contact = Sparking
    Fielding = Slick (slickster)

  • When will it end? Ok, it ended.

    Is it "attention seeking posts"?
    I'm not good at guessing...

  • New players
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Suzuki will be added to the Cubs roster at some point through a patch. However, he will probably not appear in your career, you would have to start over after the patch. When you start a new career, you choose "current rosters", and the teams will have the rosters that are active at that time.
    The good news is that your ballplayer progress will continue from where you are, so I'd suggest keep upgrading your player until Suzuki appears, and then decide whether to start a new career file.

    Which field is this on?

    Polo Grounds.

    It took me a lot of tries to realize pulling into the stands is harder than hitting that deep corner for inside-the-park HR.

  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Not having a PS, I am new to this game and cannot compare it with its earlier iterations.
    That being said, I think it's a great game. I'm quite terrible at it, can't play online (not smooth enough to hit), so my experience is limited to RTTS and some DD (conquest, moments, showdowns). I've enjoyed collecting cards, grinding archetypes for diamond gear and perks. I don't think I've played much else since April, not since RDR2 have one game held my attention for so long a stretch of time.
    Last but not least: it has not cost me a dime, since I already had GamePass.

  • Best approach to RIB Program?
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Create a new lineup with your best players, then substitute the RIB players into it.
    Then play RIB conquest repeatedly with this lineup.
    As you unlock more RIB cards, put them into the lineup and repeat.
    Pitch only with RIB pitchers -> the Ks will count for the mission.
    Put your RIB hitters at the top of the batting order, to get the most ABs with them. Their H, XBH, etc will count for the respective missions.

    The missions can be repeated, so you get 5 points each time you complete 20Ks, etc. This is how you complete the program.

  • So, someone has been keeping a secret
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    I have an XBox Series X connected to a Gigabyte M32U monitor. Runs the game at 4K HDR @ 120Hz over HDMI 2.1 and it looks great. Only dips under 120 (according to monitor's FPS counter) happen during cutscenes (e.g. batter in the box), but solid 120 Hz during actual gameplay.

  • Why can't I see the missions on my archtype
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Which archetype is this? I've so far created 3 ballplayers, and have not encountered this problem.

  • Molina xbh and HR
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    This may be something everybody knows, but I just discovered it.
    When you have a mission like "HR with C" (in this case, Molina evolution mission), fastest way to do this is to make a new team with only catchers. I played a Conquest game and had 4 homers in 3 innings. Quick!

    So, the point here: you need homers with catchers, even if they play secondary position or out of position.

  • Game crashing repeatedly
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    I'm experiencing a lot of game crashes. Make mini-season mode difficult to play: regardless of score, a crash equals a loss.
    I used to play only RTTS, and thought crashing in the 9th inning was annoying, with the game having to be played from the start.

    In 2021, the game was freezing and had to be killed. Now they fixed it: crashes straight back to the console menu, no need for manual intervention.

  • Pitcher bronze archtypes
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    @ericulous1_psn said in Pitcher bronze archtypes:

    I've only played with one bronze archetype with my first CAP but both Painted Cheese and Filthy Cheese say 84 as uf I'm completing them simultaneously. Is this the case?

    If you check the program name, Bronze Velocity, matches both archetypes.
    When you complete it, you unlock both Silver archetypes, and so on.
    The diamond program is double in length (200) and it's a very long grind because there are only 3 milestone missions (total 25 points), and the repeatable ones only award 3 points each. On the flip side, you get more rewards along the way.

    On the diamond program, you win (all diamond):
    Perk pack (3 perks): 3
    Pitching Perk (choose 1): 3
    Fielding Perk (choose 1): 1
    Dynamic Perk (choose 1): 2
    Equipment (choose 1): 2
    Ballplayer Pitcher Equipment (choose 1): 2

  • How do I reset progress for a new CAP?
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    First, choose your ballplayer: from the start menu, go top-left to your profile, click Manage, then select your already created ballplayer.
    Next, start a new career: from the start menu, go to the RTTS but click the More Options button, then choose to start a new career.

    As long as they are position compatible, you can play any ballplayer in any career file.

  • Pitcher bronze archtypes
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Overall, we're still poorer than last year. I don't see myself applying a dynamic perk over a regular perk, so these seems to be a waste. I would have preferred more equipment choices, instead of these.
    The position perks are stingier than last year. Only 4 of each type, with one of them being a poor investment (+7 this, but -4 that).
    Instead of grinding diamond programs for gear, looks like they want us to buy stubs and acquire the equipment from the market.

  • How long does it take
  • Yardem Hane_XBLY Yardem Hane_XBL

    Archetypes and perks can only get you so far. You still need to grind the base attributes, which can go up to 50. And that will take a lot of time (games played plus training).
