Showdown = easy
You = badDo you beat every showdown every time?
Lost the NL East showdown the very first time I tried it. Maybe one AL East showdown. Didnāt lose any inning showdowns, and havenāt lost any Stage 2 showdowns. And Iāve played at least 50 of them.
So 48/50. That warrants being called easy imo.
Youāve lost a couple of showdowns even though their easy? Interesting.
You consider something hard if you don't beat it 100% of the time? Interesting.
Where did I say that? Or even imply it? He said they were easy, why werenāt they easy when he lost?
96% win percentage seems pretty easy to me. Can't win them all
Why not if itās easy? Whatās happening during that 4%?
So it's only easy if you beat it 100% of the time. Got it. Explains your posts a lot
You didnāt answer my question.
Even if you're good, sometimes you get unlucky. It happens.
If you're not good, you can make 50 accounts and complain on TSN that they're too hard. Like you
Iāll remind you of your luck comment next time you tell someone to āgit gudā.
Show me where I said showdown was too hard.
Yeah, I'm gonna pass on digging through the post history on your dozens of accounts lol.
Just one piece of advice though, if you need to beat something 100% of the time for you to consider it fair, you'll never improve at this game. Focus more on what you can do better and less on how the game is out to get you. Good luck, Ryan. You'll get it someday. Keep trying.

@dcordash1 said in The psychology of Showdown:
There is no way to logically compare MLB The Show to a Boss challenge in most other games. In all the games I've played and started way back with the original Doom and Wolfenstein.
The difference? in all the other games the "Boss" exhibits the same patterns and traits and the more observant and discerning a player is the quicker they can defeat the "Boss". In MLB the Show..you're fighting an AI that just goes off the rails and refuses to be beat at times. There really is no pattern.
Without a consistent pattern...folks are gonna struggle and complain. Which they should. No one wants to waste an hour getting to a final challenge and always lose because winning is not based on skill or pattern recognition..it's based on an AI randomization algorithm.

You have a good day to Ryan.
TBH I just think that idea goes against what Showdown is supposed to be, it's supposed to be a offline BR type mode. I'd rather them bring back something like SS moments of last year where you used your team.
One successful Showdown is worth 20 TA points. Which is a lower number than the amount of accounts Ryan has created to complain about Showdowns

Where is that guy anyway? Maybe he quit this game. I noticed you didnāt have anything to say about the topic of this post, that eatyum guy would like to talk to you about avoiding/deflecting. Unless he just targets certain members.
You've already been given the answer multiple times from multiple people. The game doesn't punish you for swinging at the first pitch, it punishes you for swinging at bad pitches. There's a difference between being patient and not swinging til 2 strikes.
Being patient means waiting for good pitches to hit that you know you can do damage on. That's a good strategy. Just blindly taking til 2 strikes is a bad strategy (unless it's the NL Central Showdown against Hader).
I've beaten Showdown multiple times coming back from 0-15 right after the draft. The key is to swing at the right pitches and drop the pitcher's confidence as fast as you can.
The game isn't the reason you can't beat Showdowns, Ryan.

Give the option for offline grind, but double the requirements and I'd agree.
I'd be fine with it. I'm an offline guy, and that would give me something to work towards. I miss the stat grinds.
You're one of the few. 18 left a baaaaaad taste in my mouth.
Facts. The 18 Immortal grind ruined my motivation to grind forever. I'll drop some bills before I ever do that again lol.

HR derby was not an exploit. you received 25xp per HR hit. exactly how it was programmed by SDS. shame on them for nerfing that.
and it sets the example that they will restrict rewards in this game whenever it fits their needs, not the player base. it's greed, pure and simple.
Swing and a miss...but pathetic attempt at a point
in every thread all you do is tell someone they are wrong and insult and dismiss them. not one original thought or comment or solution comes from you. you are the prime example of a troll. you add nothing of value to this community. you are the one who is pathetic, offering nothing but swings and misses.
I love irony. Tell me more about yoru original thoughts..."wah wah an exploit was fixed wah wah". You have not a single post with a rational or mature comment or thought. But do go on adding nothing of value while trying to talk down to your superior
LOL. that's exactly what someone who is cornered into a massive loss says. they just repeat what was just said to them.
i bet my life, you bunt dance, pause, replay HRs and are a base running cheeser. i bet my absolute life on it.
you are on block. so reply if you want for the others to read. I'm done with you. i can't read another useless post from you.
Lol youāre so tough dude. My problem is they can fix exploits but not balls going through the wall. Fielding/hitting. And they still have a foul ball into the stands called a foul tip
Can you please post more about how SDS nerfed your RNG because you complained about the game? It's really funny. Thanks.

"So glad I didn't purchase this game this year. Looking at all the bad reviews reminds me just of how much I'm not missing. They purposely destroy the game with 3rd to 4th patch every single year. They won't get my coins!"
"So funny at how they did the same exact thing to last year's game 2 weeks after launch. I did not buy this game this year because they do the same thing every year. They start off good, then here come the patches. Too bad they suckered you all in! They won't get my money this year! I will wait until a new developer releases a baseball game sometime in the future. No way I'm letting this company get me out of 3000 dollars in a yr again!"
"So glad I didn't buy the game this year! Same ol [censored] with this company! They always mess the game up 2 weeks after launch. They do it on purpose. Sucks to be you guys. What a waste!"
"Just purchased the game 5 minutes ago and hoping I enjoy it! Even might think about not playing ranked at all. Here goes nothing!"

To be fair, I will readily admit that I would lose this game 9/10 times regardless of circumstances. That being said, holy [censored]! Talk about completely one-sided RNG. Good Lord!
I should have known it would be a long day when his first two batters hit early/ok ground balls through the infield haha. Even with that it was 0-0 and he had two outs in the third. But that's when the fun happened. He hits an early swing HR...but that happens when you have the ALL the best cards in the game already. Then with two outs still, he hits a fly ball to CF and my guy...let's it hit him in the chest! I walk the next guy so he's got 1st and 3rd. He hits another fly ball to CF and...it hits him in the chest! I can't freakin make this stuff up lol.
Meanwhile I'm doing things like inputting perfect line drive swings with FotF Soto (and his triple digit power) and the ball is dying on the warning track. Until a two-out single in the 9th, literally every swing I had with "good" or better contact was an out.
Ended up losing 8-0. Shouldn't have been that lopsided but even without RNG I would have lost. But how often do you get a chance to play someone like that? The competitive side of me was stoked to see how I stacked up and I feel like RNG just took over and never gave me a chance.
Yea, SDS fan boys don't believe me but this is a common scene for these top/ws players. They seem to get a lot of bs on their side. I played 4 games on Saturday and was on the good side the first two and bad side the last two. Game played completely diffferent. A lot of people on here, that have zero clue how internet affects video games, don't think internet affects games. They think someone playing on fiber will have the same experience as someone playing on wifi out in the middle of nowhere.
There is a chance these people could be right next to the server and there is no code in the game to allow for that. Kind of like the old COD host advantage. When this was happening the host of the game was seeing things exactly as they were since they were technically the server for the game. The rest of the people were getting delayed information causing the host to have an advantage. You idiots that question me on this feel free to look this information up. Also look up OOO players in former Battlefield games and how their high ping was giving them an advantage. Highly doubt the top/ws players have low ping. More than likely they are just in the sweet spot.
The more likely scenario is there is a ping sweet spot when the game plays extremely good. Everyone has these but I suspect the top/ws players are in them more. These are the games where you make no errors, fastballs seem a little slower, more hits fall, bad contact rewarded more, pitches can actually be located. I had 2 of these games myself Saturday and easily handled my opponent. The next two were complete opposite. The opponents were not any better. They could just hit my non-stop pitches down the middle and I flew out to the warning track 10 times per game. Completely opposite games just due to something in the connection. Absolutely nothing to do with the opponents. If all my games were like the first two Saturday, I would hardly ever lose. Like the last two Saturday and I would hardly ever win. I think the ping sweet spot is probably around 100 but that is just speculation without knowing the exact numbers. SDS has access to these. If you looked at every ping of every top player, you would see a clear pattern on where that sweet spot is.
You'll see these SDS fan boys come on here and dispute my thread. These people have absolutely no idea how online gaming works. Take my Saturday games. I know I wasn't that much better than my opponent. I knew the first two games I was on the good side of the ping and bad the last few. If SDS was to show the ping on the pitching match screen, you would probably notice the top people being in the same area. More than likely around 100 I would guess but again this is just speculation without access to the real numbers. SDS wouldn't release these because it would pretty much expose the top players. People like skepple are absolutely clueless when it comes to this.
Keep my name out your mouth, thereās no conspiracy, the top players live all over North America, they donāt all live in the same spot, Iāve never seen someone so committed to āthis game is out to get meā but hey 3 years going on strong of saying the same stuff! Keep up the great work, maybe one day youāll hit that top 50 when thereās only 55 people playing with the same ping.
Ping ping ping ping ping
