That was 1999. Damien Easley, Rich Aurelia, and Ed Taubenese (WHO?!?) hit 20+ homers that year. Jeter’s statistically best seasons were when EVERYONE was having their best seasons.
Jeters best skill was his ability to stay in the lineup and compile stats. Nothing wrong with that. A lot of players made it to the Hall using precisely that skill (looking at you, Harold Baines). But let’s not pretend he was anything more than a slightly above average player that just happened to play for the right team at the right time.
