As long as I didn't have to collect them or use them for any purpose, I wouldn't mind.

I think it could do with a full rethink. At this point I don't touch conquest as I find it super time consuming and boring.
There must be other ways of presenting single player?

Somtimes when i want a new approach to the mode i will set my lineup to match BR parameters. Or if there is an event i will set parameters to event type lineup, since both modes are 3-6 inning games.

I would just end up using random players I would never use online. The issue is the time consuming phases of conquering the map and the lack of variety in the matches. I think it's just boring.

I'm curious? Do you play every game of every territory is that why it's time consuming?

Ni O only play the territories. It still takes ages to go through all of the territory 'battles' screens.

@ComebackLogic said in tried coming back to the game...:

Yeah, ‘20 was the last straw for me, I won’t be playing ‘21 at all. This franchise has been in decline for a while and I don’t have any realistic hope for improvements in the coming year. Yes, the show is the best baseball game available, but when the only other game is RBI that’s not saying much. I’m tired of it all now, SDS can’t make a realistic baseball game to save their lives and the deliberate tactic of taking away full user control and replacing it with....... whatever you call the weird gameplay - Has really killed my desire to ever play the show again. Pitches that don’t locate with perfect input, batted ball outcomes that make no sense, losing games to a clearly inferior opponent who has no idea how to play baseball correctly and just pounds buttons arcade style etc. All you can do is express your dissatisfaction, which I have done many, many times, both on the forum and in emails offering feedback to SDS and hope they realise they’re killing the franchise with these terrible decisions.
All I can do is vote with my wallet and I’m not returning for ‘21 due to the hugely disappointing games SDS have churned out in the past few years. ‘16 and ‘17 were the pinnacle of gameplay, due to the absolute control afforded to users when pitching. ‘17 had the best pitching of any MLB the Show game because it was accurate when you were accurate with the controls. Later editions may have surpassed ‘16 and ‘17 in terms of content and availability of content to all players but the gameplay has been in a severe state of decline, every year I feel like I have less and less control of outcomes in game and everything feels more scripted and out of my hands.

It’s actually pretty sad as I would regularly play for thousands of hours and play thousands of H2H games each year, but this franchise is no longer worth the investment for me, be that the financial investment of a PS5 and copy of the game plus stubs, or indeed, the time and effort invested to improve at a game that doesn’t offer any incentive to do so, instead being ruled by nonsensical and seemingly random outcomes. The final concern is that the content last year was horrible, if SDS see fit to continue down that path, giving legitimate legends like Griffey and Babe Ruth worse cards than some minor leaguer who has yet to play a game, giving multiple high diamond cards to the same player with slightly different stats and handing out 99s to anyone and everyone who don’t deserve them, then ‘21 will be just as garbage as last year. SDS really need to get a grip and think about the sport of baseball in a realistic manner, in every aspect from what happens when you throw a pitch, to how a ball should behave when making contact with a bat, to the comparison between Jacob Stallings and Jorge Posada and how that should affect the ratings of their best cards. I just can’t go through that nonsense again. Not this year, maybe ever.

Games tailored to kids who just slam buttons. It's painfully obvious. Takes zero skill level. Just as sds would want it. There bringing in a new fanbase by doing so.

Have to tried playing this game just bashing buttons? how did it go?

  • S shuker23_PSN

@redsman09_psn said in Hitting on ps5 vs ps4:

Why does hitting feel so different on each system? When I got my ps5 back in November I became a much worse hitter. My season batting average was consistently like a 250-260’s. Now that I’ve switched back to the ps4 when playing the show I’m hitting like .315 on the season. My career BA has also jumped like 6 points. Is there some setting I need to adjust or something. My I game setting are the same for both platforms and I play on a monitor? Yet I’m constantly late on fastballs on ps5 I even set the ps5 to performance mode but I’m still late. What am I missing? It’s extremely frustrating

I had this problem last week until I changed the graphics setting to faster. That turned it from hitting worse than PS4 to better than instantly.

@shuker23_PSN said in Should SDS fulfill all million stub orders in MLB TS 20?:

No they shouldn't. The best thing they've done this year is make stubs available. Getting rid of caps/inflating supply will make that worse.

The excess stubs are what have led to the deluge of million dollar orders. Eliminate that, and those who have a million will be able to get their card in a timely fashion.

Thing is, you've always been able to buy any and every card in the game. You just have to have been willing to put in the work, in the case you're not good enough at the game to win them outright. I have them all this year, just like I've had them all for the last four years.

All you've had to do is work the market, take into account that br and event rewards (although SDS totally screwed these with rewind packs) become super expensive over time, and put together your collection.

However, a lot of people didn't want to put in the work, and were content gathering in all the free stubs while not recognizing that while they were accumulating them, so were others.

Then you have those who came to the party late, crying that all the door prizes are gone. I have absolutely zero sympathy for someone who came months later, and then complain they can't get hold of a Jones or Wagner card, as well as numerous others.

Long post made short. Get rid of handing out millions of stubs, then those who have will obtain.

Yeah, completely disagree with you. It's only a handful of cards that were unobtainable at launch because of excessive 1,000,000 orders.

You kind of just proved my point. We didn't have all these massive amounts of million stub cards, until SDS decided to hand out millions of stubs

In fact I could say two - Wagner and Chipper. Which are 12-0 rewards. All the WS rewards were affordable until recently.

That's what happens when everyone is loaded, with nothing to spend them on.

Removing free obtainable stubs from playing the game will only result in people who pay to play, or play the market

Or those good enough to earn them. Those three methods are the way it's been for years, and is as it should be.

I did note to said play the market in your post, the most boring thing to do in a baseball game and I won't do it - having the stub count to receive 'unobtainable' cards.

I do believe SDS has learned the error of their ways. There are people who would buy stubs, but with the lines the way they are now, will not. That's lost revenue for SDS, and I would have to believe they are looking to change that. If you aren't good enough to earn them (and I'm not), aren't willing to break out the wallet for (I will not), or willing to work the market (now this I will do), then these cards will remain unobtainable for you.

2 cards have come out with queues for 1million stubs. Both are 12-0 cards later in the year. Well worth the price to pay for not having to pay/flip.

I only played a handful of online DD but yea.

My point is for an online competitive mode, using directional is a massive disadvantage, so I don't understand why it should be banned.
