I really doubt there's shareholder pressure of any kind w/r/t this game. It's made by a small studio that's owned by a division (playstation studios) of a subsidiary (Sony Interactive) of a massive conglomerate (Sony). Neither the game or SDS is even mentioned in Sony's annual report to shareholders. They're probably focusing on what the data shows is played the most, which is probably shorter game modes that don't require the kind of time investment that hardcore and longtime players might be more interested in. Same story throughout the industry.

I submitted this on the site and it was suggested that I post here, so doing that just in case it matters.

I like how much can be customized this year and to me if it weren't for the frequent lockups this would be the best version since I started playing because of all of those.

But for all the options you get in Pitch History for hitters.- icons for timing is my favorite option that's now available - the option to choose Hitter Hand/Current Pitcher is not an option and that's the one I'd like most.

You can choose Hitter Hand/All or Hitter Hand/Current Inning, and that works but only until there's a pitching change. Once relivers start being used, there's no longer an option that lets you see what the current pitcher has thrown to all righties or all lefties. You can see what they've thrown to everyone, but that's not very helpful. You can see what's been thrown to righties by all pitchers, but pitchers have different pitches and different tendencies (i.e. Tyler Rogers pitches low in the zone). So that's not much use either.

One other issue that relates to the timing option - sometimes it wrongly reports late swings as early swings (and I think vice versa), so you'll get an E on the ball icon even though your bat is clearly behind the plate and the swing animation graphic says late.

I just quit the game and reopened and servers are down.

But all this stuff takes a long time:

Entering a collection
Collecting cards.
Selling cards, including quick sell.
Switching between menus
Anything triggered by moving spaces in Diamond Quest.

Oddly enough, gameplay once I get in has been fine. Even on Friday. It’s just doing anything else.
