No it's not, people weren't hitting moonshots left and right with it, there is no penalty for using it, whereas before there was.
I used contact swing exclusively last year and had similar results. Was it glitched last year and just nobody talked about it?
I contact swing on two strikes, I did last year too. I have absolutely noticed a difference between the two years.
Do you have hard data to back this up? Does anybody?
You don't need hard data to notice a difference, SDS themselves have acknowledged they are looking into check swings to see if it needs tweaking, I think I'll trust SDS, if they see a need to look into it, something is different over previous years when nobody cared.
I think the issue is SDS doesn't provide any good batted ball stats. They only have dumb stuff like batting average and RBIs. Give us xwOBA and hard hit rate in our stats page. Let us see the broader picture for quality of contact.
I could see them including that info in an update kind of like last year's swing analysis addition when people were freaking out about good-goods. They didn't actually change the game mechanics much, they just added more info to better illustrate outcomes.
I honestly had no clue about any of the contact swing drama until like 5 minutes ago when some super angry child sent me a long message RAGING about my use of contact swing. I had absolutely no idea this was a thing and hadn't noticed any difference.
Hell, my biggest complaint about this year's game is it feels like my good contact turns into outs more often. I slugged like .600 with Jimmy Rollins last year and now I can't buy a hit.
But whatever I'm just going to keep contact swinging away. I'd like to see them try to nerf my .200 batting average.
