Since when is contact swing a glitch. It's literally identical to last year.

.... unless the implication is that it was glitched last year too. I mean if anything I think I'm having worse luck on batted balls this year.

Has anybody whose complaining about contact swing actually sat down and crunched some numbers?

Take your next 100 batted balls online and record the PCI number, the exit velocity and launch angle, and see what you get.

No it's not, people weren't hitting moonshots left and right with it, there is no penalty for using it, whereas before there was.

I used contact swing exclusively last year and had similar results. Was it glitched last year and just nobody talked about it?

I contact swing on two strikes, I did last year too. I have absolutely noticed a difference between the two years. Way more no doubters for me.

Do you have hard data to back this up? Does anybody?

You don't need hard data to notice a difference, SDS themselves have acknowledged they are looking into check swings to see if it needs tweaking, I think I'll trust SDS, if they see a need to look into it, something is different over previous years when nobody cared.

They've gotten pretty good at making sure people know when they haven't changed things, hence the "No gameplay changes are made" when it comes to most updates now so that rumours don't get out of hand.

They haven't made that claim when talking about the contact swings

I think the issue is SDS doesn't provide any good batted ball stats. They only have dumb stuff like batting average and RBIs. Give us xwOBA and hard hit rate in our stats page. Let us see the broader picture for quality of contact.

I could see them including that info in an update kind of like last year's swing analysis addition when people were freaking out about good-goods. They didn't actually change the game mechanics much, they just added more info to better illustrate outcomes.

I honestly had no clue about any of the contact swing drama until like 5 minutes ago when some super angry child sent me a long message RAGING about my use of contact swing. I had absolutely no idea this was a thing and hadn't noticed any difference.

Hell, my biggest complaint about this year's game is it feels like my good contact turns into outs more often. I slugged like .600 with Jimmy Rollins last year and now I can't buy a hit.

But whatever I'm just going to keep contact swinging away. I'd like to see them try to nerf my .200 batting average.

And it's not like I've noticed my opponents benefitting from contact swing either. I've got like a sub 1.5 ERA on Ranked--last year I was running around 4. Most of my games--win or lose--end 1-0 or 2-1. Some of that I think is the free pitchers are way better than the free hitters right now, but the run environment this year seems ridiculously low.

I'd like to see SDS give us some of that composite info, in addition to the batted ball data.

I got a runner on 3rd, 2 outs and I'm in an 0-2 count. So I move my thumb from the X button for a normal swing to the O button for a contact swing, because I wanna drive that runner in.

I get a fastball up and away and I go oppo on it with a contact swing. Result: 110mph exit velocity 425 ft no doubt 2 run homer.

That is not how a contact swing is supposed to work.

If contact swing was broken last year there would have been a bevy of video’s about it. So no it wasn’t a thing last year.

    Wait wait wait......

    Are there three swing options?

My entire world just shattered. I'm such an idiot. I've played like a thousand hours the past two seasons and never knew about contact swing.

I thought everyone was referring to normal swing with the X button. That's what I use.

    Pain.

Did they have competitive mode last year?
I think competitive mode is responsible for all this stuff.
I think competitive mode is broken some how.

Yeah people are actually using it this year because of pinpoint. People don't miss or hang pitches as much so perfect perfects are so much easier to get. Exit velocites will be the same no matter what if you hit a perfect perfect. The problem is it is easier to get perfect perfect this year with contact swings. That should not be the case. That really is the only argument about contact swing. Exit velocities aren't some how broken.

I agree with you, I only use contact swings in certain situations so it's not a big sample size of usuage. But I l haven't noticed any difference in this year and years past contact swinging.

I've hit a couple of no doubters, this year and years past,, using contact swing but those were usually on perfect/perfects.

I've also played several people who contact swing all game and hit balls to the warning track that probably would've been home runs had they normal swung.
