Can we just make a competitive game mode that you can select your difficulty? I don't want to play on All-Star. I don't want to play on a level of difficulty so low that the outcome of games is entirely random. I'm genuinely trying to figure out how every single game I play is a one run game, win or lose. I'm tired of losing 7-6 to a slap [censored] silver player that I strike out 16 times and outhit by 10, and then turn around and win 7-6 in the opposite scenario.

Whether I'm playing a high level prestige with a god squad or a bronze throwing Michael Kopech, every single time it comes down to a very small margin. It's ridiculous and it's gotten worse this RS.

Can someone point me to where I can read how this thing is put together? The more I play this, the more I genuinely think "the game" has its fingers on the scales of online play, which is the best case scenario, because otherwise this game seems very poorly made.

Easy one: give us a DH in ranked seasons (and all modes for that matter). Nothing dumber than having all these great, fun cards and only letting us use eight of them. I guarantee people would rather play with some of the most fun, most beloved players in history (Ortiz, Frank, etc.) than sacrifice bunt.

There's way too much nuance in batted balls that can be perfectly summarized with a couple adjectives, which I think is what was causing a lot of the frustration. For instance, I saw a big time streamer the other day hit an inside fastball to the opposite field for a flyout, but because he got his PCI over the center of it, it was a "good/good." And so he threw a gigantic hissy fit about how the game was out to get him. But how often do you see a player inside-out a pitch for a home run?

I think a lot of the indignation this year is the result of genuine good/goods being lumped into the same category as inferior good/goods because of a lack of descriptors.

It's like if your friend tells you a restaurant is good. Do you just head straight there without learning anything else about it? You'd want to know what kind of food they serve and if it matches up with your particular tastes. You'd want to know your friend's tastes and what they consider good. You'd want to know what to order. If you had to choose to go to every restaurant based on if it's good or okay, you'd be disappointed a lot.

Heavily underrated. I hit well with him and he's a monster defensively (and I think 1B is one of the more important positions for defense anecdotally). Great 8 hitter. I'll probably remove him once I get Giambi but until then there aren't many 1Bs I'd take over him.

I've been lights out with Snell for the most part, but you have to use him carefully -- as soon as that stamina drops his command gets a little spotty. But for 5 innings he's dominant.

I was looking for Rob Dibble and I got Rob Dibble. Great day.

Depending on how much you like Posey, I think Matt Wieters is the best catcher in the game is relatively cheap.

He's a force defensively, which is all I want out of my catcher, but he hits enough as a switch hitter to be a great 7 or 8 hitter.

It's fun and one of the more unique setups they've offered and most of the challenges are pretty beatable. But at the end of the day it's MLB The Show 20 so expect to want to repeatedly punch yourself in the face.

I don't think anybody really wants to play MtO with the Mariners besides Mariner fans, but the Evan White card is very nice.

The Luis Patino card is very good too. That changeup is nasty for me.

Those are the only two cards I have so far. I've been crushed by a few people with Brandon Marsh.

I just can't hit with Gorman. I get a few lucky home runs with him but overall I'm not great with him. I do see people who absolutely mash with him though.

Todd Helton grand slam and my opponent disconnects with the ball still flying toward the fence. Do I get the stats toward prestige? I assume no?

I fully acknowledge that I'm bad at this game and I pose this genuinely.

I'm a level Gold 65 with a good team and I just cannot beat low level bronze players in ranked seasons. And the more I get absolutely railed by these teams, the lower I drop, and the more of them I face. I literally cannot do anything against them. I find ways to watch cans of corn drop in front of me in the infield for a double and let soft grounders hit me in the ankles. Then of course I give up a series of bunts, stolen bases and home runs on pitches down the middle.

Does anyone else have a problem going up against low level players? Is it a focus thing? And again, I know I'm not the best at this game, but I've put in 15 days of game play, I've grinded events and team affinities. I feel like I shouldn't just be getting walked all over so consistently by people who haven't reached bronze 30. How do you approach these games?

I mostly play events, which have exceptional rewards. If you are not maxing out event wins, or at least getting to the main diamond rewards, you're leaving thousands and thousands of stubs on the table (plus the game mode is fun on its own).

I also try to work through one team affinity a week. MTO is my mode of choice, especially to get through stage 1 (I think it's an underrated mode though I hear a lot of people aren't into it). Showdown is good too.

I recently finished the Live Series collection and now Ihave the urge to do the Prospects collection. It's around 130-150K or so, but none of them are cards I'd likely ever use, especially when their FS cards become available.

Should I fight my impulse to throw the stubs away, or should I do the collection?

And why can't I set a minimum rank for my opponent? I lose two games by one run each and drop 74 points just because my opponents were at 595 (and they were probably there because they got railed by some lower level player on some All-Star BS).

It's just ridiculous. Like I get and accept a certain amount of gameplay inconsistency, that's totally fine and I still enjoy the game. But is anyone actually pleased with the way they've set up Ranked Seasons? They might as well just develop a game of plinko for PS4 or a coin flipping game?

And seriously, why is every time I pitch dominate my opponent does too, and every time I can't pitch, my opponent can't either. Why are all games either 9-8 or 2-1?

Yeah I went from the past two seasons playing entirely in the high 700s low 800s (never made WS), but this season I played entirely between 620 and 680 and just basically went .500.

What I noticed about this season is it didn't matter the level of my opponent (XP or actual perceived skill), the quality of their team versus my team, or the quality of the starting pitcher, almost every single game was decided by one run or was otherwise very close. If I was dominating a silver XP with a low-diamond budget squad with prestige Orel, he was similarly dominating me with Michael Kopech. If I was crushing Kluber against a max prestige XP, he was dominating whoever I was throwing.

It's gotten to the point where I actually think that the game puts its finger on the scales of online play to make them close and "fun." Maybe that's just conspiracy and the game is just really inconsistent especially on All-Star.
