As I sit here, without a PS4 to play MLBTS on because I sold it back in July in anticipation of PS5 pre orders coming out, this question popped into my head, much because I haven't gotten my fix of MLBTS in a few months. I cannot wait to finally play it again next week when PS5 drops.
As a lot of you know, it was announced earlier in the year that MLB The Show will likely be coming to other consoles this year, including Xbox. I don't know about you guys, but to me, this game has looked the exact same for the last few years. A few graphic changes here and there, and even that seems like a stretch. Will we finally get a better looking baseball game this year with the expansion to other consoles outside of Sony? I know SDS is a pretty small studio, and I wonder if this expansion will lead to an increase their funds and overall team size.
I'm really not trying to slander MLBTS or SDS here at all. I just feel like the game has done pretty much everything to get buys each year (adding more legends, making stats go over 99, adding more stadiums, etc.) that eventually, and hopefully soon, there HAS to be something big, like an upgrade in graphics. Feel free to post your opinions or criticize mine if you like.

Not with the Pudge moments (haven't done that one) but I've lost at least a dozen XBH's because the game just decided that it wasn't a double when it clearly was. It's very frustrating.

Happened to me too last week, to cause me to not make into WS. Up 2 in the 9th and he ties it and then walked it off. Lost 5 in a row after :). But, I don't think it's scripted. I do believe in momentum in the game though. I've been a momentum person since FIFA had its conspiracies in 2015 haha

I just had one of the most satisfying wins in my entire career of DD (since MLBTS 15)... This guy had Newhouser on the mound, I had Kluber. He had a perfect game with Hal through 7 and a third. I finally break that up with a base-hit up the middle. He also had 18 Ks with Newhouser. Absolutely dominating me on the mound with Hal. Oh, and Newhouser just got to yellow stamina at 127 pitches in the 9th innning. On the other hand, I was taking care of business with Kluber going 7 shutout innings allowing just two hits. I pinch hit for him with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 8th, but couldn't come through.
So, the satisfying part of this win came from this guy bunt dancing... every. single. batter. From the first batter of the game to the final out, he would not stop doing it. I didn't do any sort of retaliation, because I wanted my retaliation to be winning this game. He brings in Hader in the 10th and I say to myself "Oh great, here's another 6 strikeouts coming my way!". First batter Hader faces, Eddie Mathews in the 10th inning and I hit a bomb to take the lead. Then, I hit another with Gary Sanchez (who I brought in off the bench for the first time in a very long time) to go up 2-0. And yes, I watched every single replay. I NEVER watch replays but it just felt wrong not to in this particular situation. The second homer with Sanchez proved to be huge as my opponent did take me deep with Giambi in the bottom of the 10th. To be honest, I was a little cheesy myself by bringing in Chris Sale to face his left handed-heavy lineup for the last two innings.
Also, after winning this game it brought me into CS for the first time this year (820)! Pretty happy about that, but I see no possible scenario that I make WS this season. I'd probably have to win every game from now until I made it, which seems unlikely considering I just struck out 20 times against this guy. PCI was the size of an ant. These types of wins make me love playing this game, especially with no real baseball and excitement right now. If by any chance my opponent reads this, good game man... it really was, but you gotta stop bunt dancing!

I still play and I’m 21. I play in a men’s league with some of my friends from high school and it’s a lot of fun. My 1 friend and I started in this league 2 years ago and we have about 10 other guys we knew from high school playing with us now so that’s cool.
To be totally honest I throw a lot of high sinkers and I didn’t realize it was considered cheese. I don’t follow the forums or MLB youtubers much anymore so I don’t know what’s considered cheese these days. Honestly it’s a good pitch in the game and I’ve come to the realization that a lot of stuff that happens in this game wouldn’t work or happen in real life, so stuff like cheese doesn’t really bother me. If it works and helps you win I can’t stop ya!

@IIJACKINTHBOXII said in Pre Order Upgrade troubles:
I just did basically the same thing. For whatever reason you can't just upgrade. You have to actually cancel your pre-order and then buy the upgraded version. I just went through the live chat and they cancelled my pre-order. The one thing I'd say though is to ask for the funds to be refunded to your PS wallet rather than to your bank account. I'm still waiting for the refund and they said it could take 1-2 billing periods (tbh, I'm not entirely sure what that means.)
Yeah I ended up getting through to support. I asked for it to be refunded to my wallet but I guess since I used my PayPal they had to refund it back to that which will still take 1-2 billing cycles. Oh well at least I got it figured out!

So I pre ordered the standard digital version as soon as it became available, with all intentions of eventually upgrading to MVP or digital deluxe, as I've done the past. Now I'm trying to upgrade and it won't let me because I already purchased the standard. In the past it would allow me to hit "Upgrade for $20/40" and now it doesn't give me the option. I tried calling Playstation Support multiple times but their number ALWAYS gives me a message saying that they are not open right now and to contact Playstation Support online, even in the middle of the day. I tried going through the live chat but it just makes me try and find the solution on my own and not actually connect me to a live chat. Anyone have issues like this in the past? I've dealt with Playstation Support both on the phone and on chat and never had these kind of issues. Have any of you had this pre order upgrade issue in the past or Playstation Support issues recently?

The first thing I do every year is turn the soundtrack off, and it's the same thing with a lot of my friends who play the game. I do it because I don't like random music playing the background but they all turn it off because they think it sucks.

I start top of the zone, center. I used to start at the bottom and then couldn't touch a high fastball. I find it easier to drop my PCI to reach a low pitch than to raise it to it a high one. I don't even have the actual visual of my PCI on as I found it to be too much of a distraction and my hitting improved a lot when I made that switch.

I think it would be really cool if we could add a starting pitcher to the bullpen as an inning eater. Hear me out, we've seen guys get moved to the bullpen after being a starter, sometimes to help their team in the postseason when they know they can use that long guy out of the 'pen. It would be a cool feature if we could have one "starter" in our pen that once added, had decreased stamina so you couldn't cheese it and put him in there after one inning and pretty much choose your 99 overall Kershaw every time. So, let's say you have a starter, he's good but you just don't feel they are cutting it as a starter, you could click "add to bullpen". There could also be a secondary position for a starting pitcher who has started and relieved (Chad Green for example), where you could have them as both a starter and add them to the bullpen to give you some innings in an extra inning game or something like that.
Obviously this would take a lot of figuring out and I don't think it's something that would ever actually happen, but it would be a cool part of real baseball that would create more strategy in the game. Don't take a dump all over this idea, I don't mean for it to be taken as I'm pushing hard for this or something, but rather create discussion on how it could work. What do you guys think?

I see what you guys are saying about forcing extras. But the issue here is that if you go into extras at 0-0, you kinda have to bank on hitting a 3 run homer. If he's the home team and can't allow the Astros to score, if he scores one run in extras the game automatically ends.
Finest Juan Soto is the greatest card in the history of DD
Will We Finally Get Next Gen Graphics in MLB 21?
Ever happen to you ???
This game is scripted
Possibly the most satisfying win I've ever had in DD
Who plays or played real baseball in there life?
Pre Order Upgrade troubles
Pre Order Upgrade troubles
does anyone actually like any of the soundtrack?
Where do you start your PCI?
Cool idea but probably unrealistic
