Hitting online is the hardest part. The low frames mean there is NO chance of catching up to a fastball. Either too early or too late on every 4 seam.

Whatever is different about this mode needs to somehow be implemented in Diamond dynasty and online play. The game looks a tad better to me as well as it plays so much smoother and holds frames. I am starting to wonder if it is because there is no crowd (as well as no connectivity obviously). If we had the option to disable crowd or make it static and lower shadows/textures, I think everything would work better online like it does in practice. Heck, if conquest/moments/March to Oct/RTTS play like this and Play vs. CPU gets ironed out to it, then this port will actually be really good. Hitting and pitching feel so different in this compared to every other mode available.

Yes! Half the time the game doesn’t even show me my player in the outfield until the ball is halfway down.

The game plays completely different in offline practice vs. Diamond dynasty. Offline practice is actually pretty decent, if we could get that level of performance across the game or at least in the single player DD modes it will be worth the money.

@papa_rican_mlbts said in Biggest Issue is FPS:
I just watched a video on how the new Switch Sports is using something called AMD FSR. I think, trying to remember exactly what it is, I believe an algorithm that works with the software to make it run at a faster FPS, without the necessity of having new hardware. MLB The Show 22 DESPERATELY needs to find a way to implement this. The graphics for the Switch was just too pixelated for me. I couldn't read the pitch coming about 80% of the time. Using FSR technology would allow it to go from a 30FPS to 60FPS I believe, and also sharpen out some of those graphics. Again, I might be slightly off on exactly what AMD FSR does, but if Nintendo is using this for Switch Sports, and supposedly the new Xenoblade title might be using this for the Switch as well, then SDS might want to look into this.
This would be amazing; I also saw something about this. FPS is crucial for the timing in this game

The frame rate makes pitching and hitting very tough. I can get past the pixelation, it is just hard to time pitching and hitting when the frames jump around so much.
-
Most the time I freeze in the menus before the game even loads but I’ve also had one freeze in like the third and one freeze bottom of the 6th with 2 outs this evening… frustrating to say the least.
-
I also had this issue on the outfield where my player just didn’t throw the ball. I also had a weird bug where the game like delayed when I was throwing home from first base by a few seconds and the runner was safe (my player just held the ball then threw like normal).
-
Besides the freezing in the menu, in game, and people constantly leaving, I have really enjoyed the mode so far. It is a nice change of pace to just play, meet new people, and chat baseball or life. I know it will be a lot more polished and will hopefully connect better at launch, but I think this mode has great potential. I’m going to try to play with my buddy tomorrow; looking forward to rewards eventually being added already!

If we get lower textures, no shadows, and a static or reduced/no crowd at all but could get a steady FPS I’d be happy.
-
I just want it to be like the PSP, man.
-
I have used pro controller and joy-con and both work. Pro controller obviously gives you more precision, but joy con will work well enough in handheld.

As the title says, myself as well as most people would happily look past the jagged and pixelated graphics if the game held a decent and steady frame rate. If the game runs smooth at launch, I will definitely cross buy. A locked 30 FPS would be a great start. Unfortunately, the switch version of the game really cannot handle the current engine. I would be cool with older assets/less realism as well to make it run better. I don’t care if it looks like a PS Vita game if it will run without lag/stuttering. I was super excited for this game on the go and haven’t given up hope yet, but so far I am a little disappointed (I was expecting some of this btw). If things hold up, I’ll probably hold off until there is a sale to buy on switch and just only play on ps5. I miss when Sony had the PSP and Vita… the game played so great on them. The last version on Vita (14) played smoother and while the textures weren’t as high, looked fine.

Meter Bug: I appear to only be able to use meter with a slider. Every other pitch won’t let me press A and use it at all.
I am in custom practice and have tried multiple different cardinals pitchers.
EDIT: Now in play vs. CPU again. If you use B on the meter it works flawlessly with every pitch, it is just A. Lol. I don’t know if A is supposed to work at all or if there is a bug or if I am just dumb.
Yeah DD is way laggier and has more pixels. Staple frame rate would be 10/10.

This^. Squaring up on balls and they die at or right before the track. Power is non-existent at all, even with Perfect/Perfects. Noticed this on Ps5 and switch both.
Edit: in online games AND in custom practice as well.
-
Update: I’m thinking the meter bug is only certain pitches. If not, it is inconsistent. The bug is basically the meter not recognizing you pressing A at all. Classic mode works fine.
On a different note, custom practice offline seems to look better and lag less than Diamond dynasty (Play v. CPU).

I felt late on 95% of pitches and I thought it was just me.
-
This happens to me 4/5 times.

The game looks and feels great on next gen. My only complaint is how the servers are acting. I have froze in 2 casual games, as well as co-op freezing before making it to the game 80% of the time. Once the freezing and servers are fixed it will be great.
-
If we could get a steady frame rate and less lag, it will be just fine. If it looks like a PS3 game oh well, I just want to be able to play on the go. The input lag right now and jittering can make it tough.
