I've played this game since it was a thing, and, honestly, this is the best that hitting has felt to me. It's hard because it's supposed to be (and that's why hitting feels better this year). It's "inconsistent" because it's difficult to replicate results in baseball and, to reflect that, this year feels like even slight variations in placement have large effects on the batted ball rather than everything being a home run. My god, it's almost like they want even good players to make outs, like, 70% of the time. Weird.

I see you wrote a book but I'm not reading past that first paragraph. "Hitting is better than it's ever been" and "it's inconsistent because baseball is hard" was all I needed to see. Take your mental gymnastics elsewhere. If we can't agree the mechanics are wonky and the servers are bad then you and I aren't even on the same planet. And that's ok...But I stand behind what I said.

Live series Brent Rooker is a really good offensive one. He's a gold but has higher hitting stats than a lot of diamonds and has actually outplayed his stats for me. Cant miss with him for some reason

It's definitely not the yips. Everyone with a brain who has played this game before are all saying the same thing. The hitting is wildly inconsistent. I've never had this many perfect/perfect lineouts ever and we're not even a few weeks in. It's funny when you go from a perfect perfect out and then next batter you barely get in the right square with only good timing and somehow you split the outfield gap for a double. If you look at the graphic on the bottom left that shows your timing it doesn't even make sense half the time. It is seemingly just taking up space on the screen. It will say very late in red but the bat will be square to the ball and plate at contact. If I am square at the plate and the graphic looks as though i should be pushing it out to center field then why on earth is it going 50 feet foul? This graphic could be telling as to why the mechanics are so far off if that graphic actually matches the swing (like it should.)

Super unfortunate product this year across the board. It's sad when they had 12 months to improve mechanics of the game and somehow managed to make it worse. Then you add the overheating and lack of optimization issues that they still haven't came out and addressed. The fact that it's 2025 and they are selling on the switch and not pc is very telling also. SDS is in shambles

It requires a 360 degree setup with 46 cameras? Somehow that sounds improbable to me. My guess is whatever software and technology they were using in 2019 was outdated then and archaic now, like all the other systems in their game. Explain to me why we need a 360 degree view when none of the back or side their heads look realistic anyway? I mean come on have we seen the hair models? Manny's dreads look like a woman's hair from a 2018 game and STILL are somehow not optimized 8 years later and causing frame drops like what on earth are we talking about. There are plenty of games with more realistic models that use ZERO face scan technology. And you mean to tell me they are taking all these pictures from every angle imaginable and STILL ended up with models that look this bad? If anything that just strengthens my original point about it being inefficient and needing to change.

Mlb already has existing high quality footage of 99% of these guys...Can you explain to me why we can't use that instead of pestering players and expecting them to fly across the world just to be in your game? Get real. Paying a couple employee's plane tickets to go to a game and set up a little tent is a small expense for a company like this, especially if it means significantly improving their product. If you go the right games you can probably knock out multiple players on multiple teams.

And also this notion that they can only accomplish a face scan during spring training is complete absurdity. What's stopping them from sending a rep to a game and snapping some some pictures? Or just using existing pictures from MLB footage? Think outside this box. I see this constant rhetoric of "SDS only had 8 months to develop the game" and it's nonsense. Development should be a constant process this game is a live service.

Maybe they need to change their approach then if it's not efficient. That's generally what businesses do or else they die. In this case SDS is fortunate they don't have any competition but that could change if they keep releasing the same abomination every year. Some of the player models in this game are downright insulting. Bones protruding out of their face, smiles that only a mother could love...I'd estimate the player models are at least 10 years behind. Shouldn't have to get players in studio either with where technology is at nowdays. A couple of pictures from a couple different angles and consent is really all they should need. Can it be complicated logistically? Absolutely. But let's not pretend like it's some monumental unattainable task. Other games been pulling it off better for a long time now.

@YOSHI24_XBL I think the dreamcast is the newest sega system...Should we roll out a version for that too? The switch is obsolete for these kind of games no matter how you try to spin it. And it's been holding the development of this game back for years. By sitting here and defending their decision to remove it from ps4 and keep it on the switch you are affectively talking out of both sides of your mouth.

@The_Bad_Seed85_PSN Lunacy ey? Lunacy is sitting here telling me with a straight face that there are big improvements when there clearly aren't. There haven't been in years. Go back to Mlb the show 18 this game doesn't even have significant improvements over that. This game is 1 nearly 2 generations behind every other AAA game in it's category. It doesn't matter if you were talking about soccer or football you missed the point. You said global appeal was a reason these other games are further ahead but madden has less global appeal than baseball and your logic begins to fall apart. You act like we're talking about a indie developer here it's San diego studios they have the official MLB license this title has been established for years and years. I have no dog in this fight I wanted to like the game but I'm not gonna sit here and white knight and pretend that it's something it's not. I'll leave that you.

@The_Bad_Seed85_PSN Look at you backpedaling just throwing darts at the wall. Comparing sports games in the same market in the same year is somehow an unreasonable thing to do? This is getting comical, each point failing harder than the last. You went from spewing nonsense about how much better the graphics were to defending the bad graphics only a couple posts later. Do you have any evidence to suggest that American football has more "global appeal" than baseball or is that more nonsense because baseball is huge in south America and Asia but football is only really popular in one country. You are punching above your weight class dude. Find yourself a girl and love her half as much as you love this game.

@The_Bad_Seed85_PSN I'm not sure what reason you would have...That's why I'm so confused that you're trying to sell me on this. I've played both games within the last 2 weeks on the same system using the same display and there is virtually not one thing that stands out to me that I can clearly and confidently say is noticeably improved. I was using 2ks graphics as a comparison because it's another sports game on the same console. I think that's a pretty fair and logical thing to do. You can substitute EA sports games if you want they are years ahead visually as well. Their practices had nothing to do with the conversation we were talking about graphics and console generations remember? If you want to talk about scummy business practices we could go on for eternity

@The_Bad_Seed85_PSN The system is being taxed more due to bad optimization...not some radical jump in graphics quality. You're not going to gaslight me into thinking this game looks any better than last year. You said the stadiums are better? Which ones? I must have missed them. I noticed the royals stadium is the exact same. Load up that stadium and tell me those waterfalls aren't straight from the ps2 era. Load up the reds stadium and tell me those car models aren't absolutely ancient. You said the crowd looks better? Another swing and a miss... I have both games and my eyes work just fine I can confidently say the crowd models are no different.

And that's your argument....? The fact that this abomination is melting ps5s is somehow your indicator that the graphics are better? That tells me everything I need to know right there. How about the shadows? They look like stick figures or crash dummys or something and they don't even match the player model...I suppose you're going to tell me how those made a generational leap next right?

I still have not had one single overheating issue since I changed my pitching camera. Pretty sad they still haven't fixed the issue though. Take your time SDS it's not like it's destroying people's property or anything. You'd think maybe they'd at least have the brains to remove the camera angle for a few days until they fix the issue but nope. And no surprise it's been happening to alot more people. SDS hasn't acknowledged it yet that I'm aware of (probably because of the implications) but they definitely know about it because apparently it happened to a dev live on stream. It goes beyond incompetence at this point, it's more like negligence.

I guess the pitching camera work around has not been working for everyone though so if you are one of those people I would encourage you to just not even risk playing the game until they acknowledge and fix it. A broken game is better than a broken ps5.

@The_Bad_Seed85_PSN Correct. But he didn't say for outdated systems 2-3 years past their cycle he said outdated systems near the end of their cycle...Did you see the message I was responding to? do you see the difference? And why context matters?

While we're at it though maybe we need to discuss what a "cycle" actually is. The ps4 is much more capable of running this game than the switch. Period. So which one has really reached the end of their cycle? Market cycle and capability cycle are two very different things. Just because there's a new playstation doesn't mean the old one is any less capable of running this game. And on the other hand just because the switch is the newest nintendo device doesn't make it any MORE capable of running the game. The switch is for mario and donkey kong not modern 3d games. If you can't understand that I really don't know what else to tell you.

I think consoles were ready for a new gen. The 16gb of ram and the m.2 drive alone warranted the upgrade. Apu and integrated graphics have been making pretty big leaps the last few years too. Most AAA titles and sports games have made significant visual improvements over the last couple years. Games like this this that are stuck with 2018 graphics in 2025 are pretty few and far between. I think the issue is they are trying to scrape by on this outdated graphics engine that can't even leverage new hardware correctly. This game has been left in the dust...Hell, even Pga 2k is leaps and bounds ahead of this game visually now. Have you seen nba 2k25? The graphics and player models look 10 years ahead of this game...How is that even possible?

What?!?! They literally made the game for the nintendo switch. That is the definition of an outdated system near the end of it's cycle.... Come on, There's no way you can actually be that oblivious

@YOSHI24_XBL I think you're struggling with reading comprehension again. You keep regurgitating the same non-sense about the show not returning to old gen... I never said that it was. I was having an on-topic discussion not a debate. You came in here attempting to make it a debate but so far you have been unsuccessful and incapable of actually producing an argument.

My point was that discontinuing support on old gen was completely pointless. What did it accomplish? How did it improve the product? If they released a new game with overhauled graphics I could understand. But instead they released the same old game with the same old gen visual assets from 2018 and then failed to support it on old gen hardware. Do you really not see the irony? It's essentially a ps4 game that will only work on the ps5

The ps4 is infinitely more capable than that little nintendo switch that they are still selling copies of their game for 60$ on. What they should do is just create a seperate entity like a mobile version of the game with it's own visual assets. That way you can still cater to older consoles and switch markets but you are not holding back the development of the current gen version. Similar to how call of duty does it. It's a win win really. More player options for us and more revenue for them.

@YOSHI24_XBL I think you missed my point. If they are going to cut off old gen then so be it...Doesn't really affect me I have a pc a playstation a xbox and a switch. My point was If you are going to cut off the old gen don't stop at playstation and xbox cut off the switch too. Either do it, or don't. But don't do it half way. The old gen consoles are more capable than the switch anyways and it's a better gameplay experience. So this decision seems to fly in the face of logic and reason. There. Is that descriptive enough feedback for you?

For what it's worth I think that's Ridiculous. If they can make and sell the game on a nintendo switch then it should be playable on old gen consoles too.

@Onelemur1_PSN That's great I'm glad it helped. Hopefully they fix it fast before launch but in the meantime maybe this will help more people.
