Start buying cards that cannot quicksell for less than you pay. (Buy order diamond jerseys for 1k, silver flashbacks or legends for 100, bronze flashback or legends for 25). This is a foolproof way to teach him how to not only play this game without spending, but also basic investing. When I saw them around 100 stubs about a few weeks ago I pounced on them, because it was a no lose situation.
