You guys that are holding R2 the entire time your opponent is trying to pitch are really a special kind of bad person.
Maybe learn how to win a game without cheating? You might find it actually feels good.
-
Look. There’s nothing wrong with being able to hit. The problem is the check swing non-calls and the strikes on corners not being called strikes.
Expand the strike zone that the game umpires actually call strikes, and call it a strike when the batter swings half his body around.
-
You are the one that is delaying the game. He is only trying to counter you.
The sportsmanlike thing to do once your opponent sees you are taking an extra step lead and throws over/steps off a few times, is to stop taking an extra step and move your runner with the bat.

Nice flex.
Personally, I don’t see where skill is involved in determining whether an outcome is good squared, good good, perfect, or good ok, but if it makes you feel better about it, sure.

It's not the tv. Been using the same system for years. It's the 1.4 patch that screwed things up
You know what else? If a player needs to have a gaming monitor to hit a fastball, the game really should come with a disclaimer.
All the power to you guys who want to get sweaty staring at a monitor up close, but many of us actually want to enjoy just playing the game.
If that makes me “casual” in your eyes, so be it, but ragging on a dude because he wants to play a video game on a tv while sitting on his couch is pretty lame.
-
It really motivates me to grind through the lower levels, knowing that the reward at the end is even less satisfying gameplay.
-
It’s not just the pitching. The game creates opportunities for the trailing team.
-
Not all of us want to play every out of a game against the neon pink uniformed, DJ horn blaring, bunt dancing, quick pitching, up and in fastball spamming tryhards.
Enjoy your easy win if your opponent quits. What’s with the desire to penalize your opponents? They’re already taking a loss.

What amazes me is members of this community who are unable to be objective. Chuck has been a mainstay on here for years and is a great example of what is possible in this community.
Instead of calling him a whiner or a cry baby (which is the stock response to posts critical of the gameplay on here), you guys should be asking yourselves why veteran players of the game going back to 2015 are fed up.

I don’t understand the “respect” angle.
Are we supposed to serve up hangers? The game does that for us enough as it is.
-
Transcription of original post: players who can square up my pitches should not be allowed in the game.

It’s hard to imagine another game with SO much programming designed to make the user fail. It’s true, baseball is a difficult game largely about failure, but this is a video game.
None of us have any delusions about suddenly getting called up to play for our favourite MLB team. It seems SDS has forgotten that the aim of video games should be entertainment and fun, not frustration.
-
What gets me is the ones where you KNOW you were right on the pitch and yet it somehow goes right through your bat as if it wasn’t there.

I've actually discovered if you move your fielder at the last second towards the ball and arriving to ball at last second I verry very rarely make errors anymore maybe 1 every 3-5games well i watch my oppenents struggle in the OF
Hmm. I wouldn’t advise any sudden last minute movements of the fielder if you want to actually make the play.

I can honestly say this entire issue is completely non-existent in the CL I play in. It is only a problem in RS and BR/events.
Why? Because in the CL, I am in contact with 11 other players who are all interested in having a clean, competitive and fun game.
The moment you go into RS, the theme becomes “win at all costs regardless of how it impacts the quality of the game for my opponent.”
You can see this just by reading this thread and all the others on the topic.
If nobody abused R2 to mess with their opponent’s timing, there would be no issue. If nobody tried to rush their opponent into bad swings by quick pitching, there would be no issue.
The real problem is not R2 or constant slide-stepping or balking, it’s that the majority of you don’t give a rat’s a$$ about your opponents, and the overall quality of the game.

I’m getting tired of this. If moments need to be more challenging, could we please just have them on a higher difficulty?
The whole idea of saying it is on a certain difficulty then adjusting cpu pitch speed and human contact sliders (or whatever tf is being tweaked) is just dishonest and annoying.
Sure, we will eventually succeed by doing it enough times, or we can choose not to do moments, but I don’t think it is too much to ask to have the game play consistently from mode to mode.
If I go to custom practice vs a given pitcher on a certain difficulty, I expect the pci size, pitch speed, timing window, etc to be the same as when I face that pitcher in a moment on that same difficulty.
Why is it ok (or even necessary) to lie about this stuff?

@amendoza616
Taking a break from this (or any) game is a solid idea. When it gets to the point where you can’t enjoy it, and playing is stressing you out, it’s definitely the way to go.
The next version of the game will no doubt be here, when you feel like you can play again.I try to accept the gameplay for what it is, “comeback logic” or not. I can really only control my input, and how I react. The outcomes of the game are largely beyond that.
Good Luck!

At some point, do you guys think we are going to see pitches touching the zone get called for strikes? I mean, the whole rectangular outline is a construct.
I’m glad some effort to get timing windows working is happening, but until the strikes on the edges get called, things still favour the hitter way too much, IMO.
Don’t even get me started on the check swings where your opponent is fooled but gets a pass.

The only people that defend exploits are the people that benefit from them.
Calling someone “Scooter” and generally addressing them like they are an imbecile does not establish you as a baseball god.
Get over yourself, man.
if you players are not happy with the game play for MLB 20 the show
You R2 holders
This Patch is Bad. Here’s why.
Stepping off to delay game
The hitting skill gap is the widest its ever been. Thats why MOST of you dont like it.
I really don’t understand the timing
Played first game on legend.
Why is so hard to close out games?
Quitters
I won't be Pre-ordering next year's game.

Directional hitters are Cancer
SDS Messed Around and Broke Their Game
The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen
1.09 Patch Discussion
Take R2ing out of the game.
Why is it necessary to lie about the difficulty?
I'm DONE with this game.
Strikes on the corners
Starters as relievers
