You’d sell the cards you get to fund cal, but if you look at the programs page, you should be able to grind out a ton of other missions while doing the draft map so you will get even more stubs/packs. Make sure you do the draft, ASG, and HRD programs.

Yes, easily. Just grind through the draft conquest map a few more times.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN well we haven’t had one in forever and again if it’s like color storm and takes over an hour each team, it won’t really solve the problem.
-
@x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN again, I’m not worried, nor should SDs be worried about no lifers (and as someone with 500 hours in on my main I am one) about other people getting caught up.
-
@Dolenz_PSN no it doesn’t. It’s a video game. Nothing is “invalidated” by allowing late starters to catch up. Did it take away me having those cards/packs/etc for months? And those color storms take at least an hour each to get (for a good player in 9 inning games at Costco, much longer for someone new or not spamming vs cpu).
-
@theBlindRhino_PSN you’ve played over 800 hours of DD this year, do you honestly think SDS can (or should) keep content “fresh” over that much time.
-
@whiplash0013_PSN let me explain the problem in time terms. You say you are only halfway through TA, but you’ve played over 100 hours of the game (for a comparison, it takes about 100 hours to beat BG3). No one can really defend that amount of time sink at this point in the year for new players to earn cards that are already behind the curve and get further behind every every content drop).
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS and they were correct, but again, it’s a really easy fix that doesn’t hurt those that played all year.
-
@theBlindRhino_PSN did you ride the short bus to school? This is important to a business trying to retain new players. And who said anything about casuals or competing? What we are talking about is giving newer players an opportunity to access what is likely highly desirable content (content that at 96 over is now behind the curve anyways).
-
@theBlindRhino_PSN and? My post was referencing new(er) players. If you played all year, I agree you are likely in ok shape.
-
@Barfy-Bad-Gas_XBL not really “give it away”, but give people a huge boost of an easy 100k. Even with that, you’d still need to do quite a bit of grinding to get the ASG voucher.
-
I created an alt account last week (my main is effectively maxed out) and realized that the TA setup effectively removes any chance any new players (who perhaps bought the game on sale/at all star break) from ever completing TA (even getting to the ASG cards. Even with the Color cards (that of themselves take about an hour each), you’d likely be looking at spending 90 hours (minimum) just grinding vs cpu at Costco to get the all star cards.
We are at the point in the year now with 99s dropping everywhere that SDS needs to be less concerned with gatekeeping TA for their day 1 die hard players and making the content accessible before it is completely irrelevant for everyone else.
I’d propose a new mission for each team that gives 100,000 TA progress for 500pxp. Otherwise, I feel the TA grind may actually cost them goodwill and possible retention of new players.

@SaveFarris_PSN their data would be flawed because right now people feel like they have to play mini seasons et al to get those unsellable cards. It’s like showdown, do you honestly think anyone would play showdown if not for the unsellable cards it gets you?
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I’m gonna guess there are way more people who do not like how content is spread out than what these boards represent. It takes 5 hours or so to finish a mini season, I would bet for a huge percentage of their customers that is a significant percentage of their weekly play time. Lots of people just like to play with their ultimate team H2H and hate offline grinding.
-
I personally like mini seasons, however, I agree with the OP that if you are going to make your game revolve almost entirely around collections, having unsellable cards that are only available by playing a certain mode is not only a bad idea, but also violates the “play your way” mantra. This applies to everything and not just mini seasons (conquest/showdown too). Either make the cards sellable (and repeatable like the conquest prospects from a few years ago) or allow people to exchange a like collection card for one of the unsellable ones (ie a 97 ASG card for the Schwarber, etc).
-
@SaveFarris_PSN going extra hard on simping today. To compare mini season boss cards that count towards collections with the 1000 gold WS cards that don’t is incredibly obtuse (likely intentional so to get your daily simp points).
And while I love mini seasons, I see the other side here when it comes to collections.
-
I think SDS has way too many collections this year, but being angry about the HRD one is misplaced. You only need 7 cards, you get Rooker and a pack for free from the program. You will get at least one more pack if you made predictions (even if you get them wrong, if you got 3 right you get a rare round pack). On top of that, you can literally just grind the Draft conquest a few times and then buy the HRD cards with your gains. On top of all of that, if past years are any example, SDS will give the draft/HRD/ASG packs out like candy at Halloween for the rest of the year.
-
I got Holliday and 3 91’s out an ultra pack with misleading odds (I read it as each card having the odds listed and believe SDS should list those pack odds by odds per card, not pack).

What utter incompetence and yet the simps will simp

It comes down to dev incompetence. Effective, every cpu pitcher in the game pitches the exact same regardless of attributes or difficulty level (meaning control attributes, obviously pitch speeds/breaks differ). In the past, pitchers on rookie/veteran would throw lots of meatballs (especially low control ones) and it was almost impossible to to walk. This year, every pitcher dots (or misses wildly) regardless of control or difficulty level. As an example, I’ve had the walks legacy done for over a month predominantly playing veteran games in mini seasons/conquest/dq.
