@xero4019_XBL Yup. Ohtani currently costs $500. And a handful of people here are still carrying water for the corporation that just quietly raised prices.

Hey, could we please get an official statement from SDS?
There was nothing said about this during the numerous livestreams, which makes it seem like either A) a temporary thing or B) intentional deception.
I just want to know whether it's permanent so that I can get a refund on the game. I'm not looking for any drama here, as I've had nothing but pleasant encounters with SDS support over the years.
However, this move would be a dealbreaker for me, and Xbox has already told me they'll refund. Before I take that step, I really just need some clarity from someone who actually works at SDS.

@DrBear100_PSN Correct. There's no point to buy right now. Wait to see how it all shakes out. What you can do is buy it for $20 during the holidays and get a bunch of free 99s. What they -want- you to do is buy now, play H2H, get wrecked, and feel compelled to waste your disposable income on digital currency that will hold no value in a year. This move represents a significant step in that direction.

So, yeah. This is playing out exactly as expected.
Today's RU intentionally didn't boost the values of obvious candidates for price increases.
SDS wants players to invest Stubs in cards that are perceived to go up in value. Then, they drop some of those prices, thereby siphoning Stubs from players. This behavior encourages people to buy more Stubs.
Some of us tried to warn you, but you naively defended the company for a transparently villainous move. It will keep happening, too.
Shohei Ohtani currently costs 834k Stubs or $557. As a reminder, keeping the prices of Judge (580k Stubs) and Ohtani in check was the justification espoused for the 20-card investment limit.
Spoiler: SDS lied. They want more of your money. Period. Full stop.

Repeatedly, yes.
I've also had the game crash. It's been a pretty rough launch for what's basically the same game.

@BrthrDarkness_PSN You're preaching to the choir. It's depressing to watch SDS turn heel like this. Their continued silence is deafening.
-
@BalsamicArrow88_XBL Don't worry, friend. You're not the first person to be loud wrong on the internet, and you won't be the last!
-
@AppleLemon560_MLBTS They give influencers millions of Stubs to post those videos. So, this does nothing to stop that.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN Right. Anyone defending this sort of intentional duplicity has questionable morals.

The lack of public communication on the topic is a sure sign of who SDS is choosing to be as a company. "When someone tells you who they are, believe them."
-
So, yeah, the market is, if anything, worse than last year despite the blatant lies about investing being the problem.
Who could have possibly seen that coming? Oh, yeah, anyone with any experience with video game developer heel turns...
Trust is easy to break but virtually impossible to regain, SDS.

We're now into June, the market is a disaster, and we've only had one roster update. The number of Diamonds during that one was historically low.
Some of us warned you that SDS had turned into a garbage company. You didn't want to believe it, and here we are.
Those of us sitting on the sidelines this season are the only ones winning. We can pick up your used copies of the game for $10 on eBay later and get 99 rosters without falling for the blatant grift. And I may not even do that as I'm no longer playing the old games, either.
SDS legitimately lost me as a customer. I hope they're losing a ton. They deserve it.
