One of the features that a modded switch has is the ability to edit the RAM of the console. This gives you ability to edit several key numbers and values that a game may store. I did this with RBI Baseball earlier in the year. It took me five minutes to do. You may be asking, "That's just the statline! Nothing too dangerous!"
Well, it is definitely likely if SDS doesn't implement protection, that someone can do that with the stub count, XP, created player attributes, heck, someone can probably change the score of the game online if they really wanted to.
