Didn't mean to come off so aggressive in my last post -- my bad!
As for "pitching respectfully," I suppose my take would be pitching in the zone at least half the time. NOT "meatballs." I throw about 60-70% strikes (if not more) and rely on strategy and skill rather than the simple fact that most people can't catch up to outliers. I'm almost always ahead in the count and will certainly throw 58 foot curves/changes or backfoot sliders, but not regularly on 0-0, 1-0, 2-0 counts.
And yes, most people CAN'T invest the time necessary to "git gud" at reading uber-buffed pitching to make WS. Lots of older players, like me, have stuff to do and/or want to play the game (as opposed to practicing it).
All respect! Take care
That is absolutely not what he is referencing when he says pitching respectfully. Pitching respectfully is not throwing the same pitch over and over again because you have shown you can't hit it, like gassing you up and in over and over again because you can't turn on it. Hence they don't respect you and don't feel like they have to vary their spots. It has nothing to do with giving you hittable balls. You have to force them to do that yourself by making them respect the fact that you are competent enough to work a walk and show you can turn on the inside fastball.
