I’ve been hearing that pinpoint is too difficult but I think it’s better that way. In the past every pitch would be exactly on the corner, I like that you have to get a perfect release to dot it, and I like seeing a wider variety of pitch locations rather than fastballs and sliders every pitch literally in the precise corner every time. IMO

Not that I’m an expert but I usually put my pci at the bottom to start and sort of guess offspeed and react to a fastball. As far as reading it, I’d say focus on the early part of the ball flight. If you see some loop then probably breaking ball, if you see it slowing down, change up. If you wait until it comes into the zone to decide then you’re too late. A strategy I’ve heard is start the pci at the pitcher’s hand and just follow the path of the ball the whole way. I don’t do that anymore but I know some people do. Hope this helps.

I’m pretty sure the default is dynamic but I always change it. I like to play on legend because otherwise I feel like it’s not authentic. I feel like if there is a higher difficulty then my success doesn’t mean much. Legend is very tough though, so if you’re a beginner and you won’t find that fun, then I understand that, but you’ll get used to it soon probably. Personally I want that authentic career feel. A lot of people just want to make it to the MLB as soon as they can and then hit 100 HR once they get there. Rookie is great for that, but on legend, it really feels like an authentic career mode. FYI I usually do a starting pitcher, but have done hitters too.

@dodgerslakers1 @McGalamaad is his control good enough that’s my main concern

I really think people are out of touch with how hitting should be. Haven’t played yet with 1.11 but hitting pre patch was close to perfect. People are way overestimating how often good bat placement and good timing results in good contact. Many times irl that results in a fly out. I think people who play this game generally just want to hit the ball as far as they can. That’s just not baseball. I’d way rather play a 3-2 game than 14-13. Making hitting easier takes a lot of skill out of pitching. In a video game it’s way way easier to barrel a ball than it is irl, so I think that the game should compensate for that by making you really have to precisely square the ball up repeatedly to score runs. Otherwise it’s a home run derby, and we already have a mode for that. It’s way more fun to battle it out trying to create runs with hits and an occasional big home run, rather than rolling the dice to see who can have more balls leave the yard than get caught at the wall. IMO

Is anyone else frustrated with the amount of offense? I know there are people out there who just want to destroy the ball every time they swing, but that's what HRD and casual should be for. IMO its not fun to keep playing these 15-14 games. In my experience there are so many home runs hit on bad pci placement and/or bad timing. I'd love to see a patch for competitive play that brings offense down a little.

Pleeeeeease change it back!! 1.10 was soooooooo much better. IMO, best hitting has ever been to worst. I love this game, and I’m confident it’ll be fixed, but I really hope it’s soon because right now it feels like wii sports baseball. Line out, home run, home run, line out... just not baseball. I’m not pretending that I’m going to stop playing because The Show has been my favorite game for years, but I’m a pretty competitive player and it’s just comical the amount of offense right now.

I haven’t heard too much about Chase Packs can someone explain?
-
I’m so happy about this patch because the hitting all year has been awesome, but the feedback was completely off, which made people think that’s contact was inconsistent, but it really wasn’t. Good ok pretty much encapsulated anything in fair territory, and it would look like you squared it up but you were actually really off on the timing. So happy to have this feature.

I know we can bring over our created stadiums from 23, but can we go all the way back to 22? Thanks
-
@allmustfall16 if that’s the case then sounds good. Obviously experiences are different. I feel like the higher up you are the more offense there is. I think great offense outweighs great pitching which is the opposite irl. The #1 player in the world right now has an ERA of about 6. Literally.
-
Agree here. I try to keep it realistic it’s more fun that way. I think SDS should make pitcher energy more important to prevent people from bringing in their ace out of the pen or starting them on 3 days rest.
-
@allmustfall16 i haven’t noticed a difference post patch tbh but hopefully not enough games yet to tell. Do you know if the patch applies to custom leagues as well because that’s where I’ve been playing most of my games since the patch.

@allmustfall16 aight that’s good

His control is good, yeah. Not like last years card. But, don’t confuse that with being able to throw where you want to, because the game will somehow find a way to make you throw down the middle of the plate.
Yeah facts thanks

I took Morton, he’s mediocre because his control is bad, but having a RP with 74 stamina is very nice. I’d take Reyes over mondesi because they’re non-sellable, and a SP will probably be in your lineup longer than a 2B, so you’ll get more use out of him. Haven’t used either tho so not really sure.
-
@windmillsfordayz disagree man. They’re forcing you to really square it up. If you want to hit it far without any difficulty play home run derby. What was the score of your last game? I bet it wasn’t 1-0. There are guys in World Series with an era over 6. Pre-patch wasn’t baseball it was celebrity softball.

I like Minnie a lot. His swing is weird but got used to it. I think he’s the move because I’m not sure there’s going to be a better LF the entire year. Also his defense is superb. He gets a lot of cheesy hits for me and doesn’t hit the ball that far so I use him in the lead off spot where he plays very well.
-
Minnie has been awesome for me out of the leadoff spot. Jackson struggle against top level pitching in my experience facing him but Minnie is a tough out with incredible defense. Also no competition in LF.

TBH custom practice right before an online game is probably only hurting you. Online and offline are very different and it is probably messing with your timing and pitch selection. This game is tough, but to be good you really have to use your brain. You have to see a lot of pitches, recognize how they move early in the game, and take pitches that are strikes, but not pitches you can drive. When pitching you have to figure out what your opponent is expecting you to throw, then throw the opposite. Or even sometimes I throw exactly what they're expecting, just a little out of the zone, so they get overanxious and swing. And make sure it doesn't catch too much plate. Err on the side of throwing a ball rather than a meatball, because most people will swing at a lot of balls. On offense too, it helps to have an idea of what they're going to throw, and just react if it's something different. If your expecting high fastball, start your pci up, etc.. If you don't use a pci you really should. It's difficult at first but it's almost impossible to compete without it at high levels. Hope this helps.
I think pinpoint is fine
