It’s Just A Game

Some of you guys need to relax on the competitiveness. Do you really need to bring in another starter out of the pen in a three inning event game? What about pinch hitting to get the better matchup every time a new pitcher enters the game? Do you really need to pinch run Adalberto Mondesi at third base?
Sure, none of these moves are inherently wrong, but man, it’s just a three inning event game, not game seven of the World Series. Relax a little!

Go ahead. I dare you. Once in a while use a reliever instead of bringing in Chris Sale. Leave in your lefty hitter to face Brad Hand. You’re not Casey Stengel.

Agree here. I try to keep it realistic it’s more fun that way. I think SDS should make pitcher energy more important to prevent people from bringing in their ace out of the pen or starting them on 3 days rest.

The ones that irritate me the most are in Ranked seasons... I had one guy do a double steal in the 8th— while leading 8-1.
Then I had another use his pitcher to bunt the runner over, leading 10-1 in the 7th.
What’s the goddamn point? You’re gonna win anyway like cmon.

That “participation trophy” line is tired, man. You’re telling me pinch running Mondesi at third with less than two out in an event game is a cool guy move?
How about show some cojones and hit the ball out of the infield to score the run.
You’re the equivalent of that Little League coach who’s kid hits third and plays shortstop.

Why wouldn't you pinch run one of your faster runners on third with less than 2 out? To not do that just seems dumb to me. The whole "I'm gonna prove how manly I am by not making the smartest available move on purpose" thing might be cool for you but most people are playing to win. It's a competitive game, expect people to use everything at their disposal. Also, yes they need to do something about Starters energy when coming out of the pen but the other problem is that there aren't that many great relief pitching options.

I dunno man. I’d pinch run him at second, but unless it’s Miguel Cabrera with zero speed AND the last inning, I’m probably not gonna waste Mondesi in that situation.

Depends on who he pinch ran for. Was it the pitcher? 2B? SS? Less than 2 outs is the perfect time to use him as a runner at 3B. Maybe the guy sucks at timing tag up situations and didn’t think he was going to have a better chance to score than that. I think the “cool guy” move would be to insert him there, then bunt him home. I have yet to attempt a bunt at all this year (even against the CPU) as I’m still traumatized by bunting into numerous double plays in ‘19. Lol
I think you need to take your own advice here. It’s just a video game. Don’t get so triggered with how others play it. You’re not Bobby Cox.
